The best way to describe the work of animator Sean Charmatz would be to say that he brings to life the objects that surround him. And as silly as that might seem, it wouldn’t be far off.
Born in San Diego, Charmatz has spent the better part of his career working in animation and doing several high-profile projects like SpongeBob SquarePants and Penguins of Madagascar. However, he is probably better known for his work on his passion project: The Secret World of Stuff.
In The Secret World of Stuff, Charmatz takes photographs of objects that surround him and assigns them human-like attributes through photo manipulation. The artist imagines how these objects would act if they were alive, and puts them in everyday situations. This is how we got to see what happens when you wake up sleeping guitar or how soap bubbles act when they are strolling through the air.
Charmatz shares his works on social media and YouTube. Check out more of them below.
