Artist Jennifer Orkin Lewis has always wanted to become a painter, ever since she was a little girl. Among other things, she runs an Instagram page with 150,000 followers for whom she paints every single day.

On Jennifer’s website, we learn that “her paintings are primarily gouache and watercolor but also include ink, pencil and the occasional marker. Many of her sketchbook art ends up on products such as Stationery, Puzzles, Fabric, Home Decor, Murals and multiple other products. She has also written and illustrated a growing number of books.”

At the very last minute I decided to do a #100dayproject it will be 100 mini abstract landscapes, in whatever medium I choose. I have never been able to finish one of these challenges, I just get overwhelmed and bored… so this time I’m going to post them in my stories which feels a little less precious than the feed and I can keep this for my other work. I also plan to keep them really quick and easy. Of course today I kept going back and adding more so it took more time than I expected. My goal is to get comfortable doing this and then paint some very large ones for my apartment. I’ve been daily painting in my sketchbook for 6 years and I’m truly exhausted. After months of thinking about this I realized that I need a break from being the one who “has” to do this every day. It has become a burden and I find my work has lost the spontaneity and joy. I’m not going to stop painting by any means, I hoping by releasing the pressure I find that spark again. I’m still going to paint, I could never stop that, and of course I have client work.I’ll still be sharing what I’m doing, personal work and professional work. It’s such a relief to just write this. I want to thank everyone of you, some who’ve been along for the whole ride, for all your encouragement and support.
