]]> Kyle Duca is a 28-years-old artist based in Malta who creates stunning and incredibly detailed portraits that look astonishingly realistic. The young artist gained public attention a few years ago when he created awesome portraits of Star Wars characters.

However, it seems that he’s been focusing on creating vibrant animal portraits lately, so you’ll see a lot of realistic paintings of dogs, snakes, birds and other lovely animals on his Instagram feed.

Duca says that he’s been interested in art his entire life. He started painting when he was only 4 years old and, as he says, he never stopped since.

“My artwork is a constant search for the best way to interpret realism with my own hands. Limiting myself to a mixture of mediums to reach the highest personal artistic plateaus, in order to best achieve my goal – to create portrait illustrations that will not only meet but surpass expectations,” the artist told Bored Panda.

]]> Michele Cahill introduces herself as a live sketch artist who draws realistic-looking animal portraits. Her “journey” began when she was invited to be a party entertainer artist when a pet portrait caricature artist backed out on an event planner last minute.

“At first, it took me a while to get up my speed, but once I got in my drawing groove I was able to get the images down in ten minutes using charcoal and chalk on gray paper,” the artist wrote on Bored Panda. “I started to be asked to draw at more pet parties after that first event. I can do larger commissioned artworks and with people and their pet’s also.”

Cahill also organizes Paint Your Pet Portrait FunParties where she helps pet owners to depict portraits of their fur babies. The gifted, Los Angeles-based painter adds animal heads to human bodies, mixing the mundane with the surreal. Grabelsky says that his pieces are inspired by riding the subways in New York as a boy and by his passion for Greek mythology.

“Night at the Museum” – oil on canvas. Can you find all the red panda references in this oil painting? Hint: there are 5 besides their heads, flip through to see them. I got pretty obsessed with watching red panda videos while I was painting this. They are without a doubt some of the most adorable creatures in existence. This is the largest piece (30 x 48 inches) from my recent solo show “Jungle Train” at @thinkspace_art. The boy is telling his dad about all the exciting things he saw at the American Museum of Natural History. This museum has been one of my favorite places in NYC since I was his age. The boy’s shirt is covered in stars and planets because the museum is home to the Hayden Planetarium, and also an allusion to my undergraduate degree in astrophysics. The museum mosaic just above the boy’s head is a reference to how my friend David and his son Levon have been two of my main muses. My very first parent/child piece was inspired by them and they have now been in 12 of my paintings and counting! . Grabelsky starts each painting with an idea, then does a photoshoot with friends or family members, and works up a composite in Photoshop where he starts visualizing what the painting will look like.

“I spend most of this stage laughing. I find that when the image cracks me up I know it will make a good painting,” the artist told in an interview for Sour Harvest, and adds that the rest of the time he spends creating the painting which requires many hours of intense concentration.

He also revealed that his creatures will one day leave the New York subway and then go out into the wider world.

“I certainly want to do paintings set in different locations in New York. I was born and am currently living in Los Angeles and so I expect that my characters will make it out to LA at some point.”

50 years today since the first moon landing. When I was a kid I wanted to be an astronaut and my first stuffed animal was a bear in a space suit which I named Space. I majored in astrophysics in Houston at Rice University (@riceuniversity) which I chose to attend because of the department’s historic connection to NASA. In fact Kennedy’s famous speech announcing his intention to send people to the moon was made at the Rice Football stadium. After I graduated I changed course and become an artist but now and then I like to throw space references into my work such as the ET moon poster behind the wolves, the stars in the poster behind the lion, and the moon like light in the subway tunnel behind the owls. . Right now I’m painting this space themed shirt in a big painting for my solo show “Jungle Train” opening in just two weeks at @thinkspace_art in Los Angeles. ]]> Erika is an artist and the human behind the Instagram account called The Sandwich Cats. Being a creative mom, she began decorating her daughter’s boring sandwich bags. The doodles created with a permanent marker quickly became full portraits.

“At that time, I sold prints of my art, but not the originals,” the artist shared with Bored Panda. “All of the paintings on ziplock bags belong to my daughter, and I compiled them into a book for her.”

When the school year ended, Erika didn’t have to pack lunches, but she kept painting cats on plastic sheets designed for art. However, her daughter wasn’t interested in keeping them because they weren’t done ‘for her,’ so she began selling her original paintings.

Erika also helps local rescue groups by painting their cats in hopes they find forever homes.

“I set aside a portion of proceeds from my art sales for donations to the two groups I mentioned above, because I feel like the more love you put into your art (or really anything you do) the better it turns out,” she added.

]]> Rhiannon Buckle describes herself as a professional pet and animal photographer from Bristol, UK. In her projects she has been already captured images of dogs and foxes. This time, Buckle photographs adorable cats. According to her, she invited a bunch of cats to the studio and documented what happened.

“My favorite part of my job is being able to capture the character of every pet and it’s a right laugh sometimes,” Buckle shared on Bored Panda. “Not all the pets that come to the studio are happy about it and you can see their stubborn nature. Particularly with cats they can be notoriously difficult with new environments and people so I was happy to let them take over the studio and have free reign to do what they wanted.”

The images she captures, she shares on her website and Instagram account where she has attracted over four thousand followers.

]]> Meet Ashley McDonald an 18 year old soon to be university student who loves painting. She was born and raised in a small town in New Zealand and has a passion for creating art. She loves animals as well as the environment and it definitely shows in her art.

Ashley loves to create works of art based on nature to showcase the beauty that surrounds her. She loves her native New Zealand and its unique animals such as Weta, Kokako, Tui and Kaka but in general she’s a big fish and bird nerd. Currently she is studying for her Bachelors of Science and plans to contribute to environmental conservation.

Her art is not only a form of expression but it also helps her raise money towards her university fund. In the past, she has successfully completed a project “Ashley’s Fish Art” before branching out to animals of all shapes and sizes. Recently, she made 46 animals portraits painted using watercolors and pencils.

]]> Erika is an artist and the human behind the Instagram account called The Sandwich Cats. Being a creative mom, she began decorating her daughter’s boring sandwich bags. The doodles created with a permanent marker quickly became full portraits.

“At that time, I sold prints of my art, but not the originals,” the artist shared with Bored Panda. “All of the paintings on ziplock bags belong to my daughter, and I compiled them into a book for her.”

When the school year ended, Erika didn’t have to pack lunches, but she kept painting cats on plastic sheets designed for art. However, her daughter wasn’t interested in keeping them because they weren’t done ‘for her,’ so she began selling her original paintings.

Erika also helps local rescue groups by painting their cats in hopes they find forever homes.

“I set aside a portion of proceeds from my art sales for donations to the two groups I mentioned above, because I feel like the more love you put into your art (or really anything you do) the better it turns out,” she added.

]]> Rhiannon Buckle describes herself as a professional pet and animal photographer from Bristol, UK. In her projects she has been already captured images of dogs and foxes. This time, Buckle photographs adorable cats. According to her, she invited a bunch of cats to the studio and documented what happened.

“My favorite part of my job is being able to capture the character of every pet and it’s a right laugh sometimes,” Buckle shared on Bored Panda. “Not all the pets that come to the studio are happy about it and you can see their stubborn nature. Particularly with cats they can be notoriously difficult with new environments and people so I was happy to let them take over the studio and have free reign to do what they wanted.”

The images she captures, she shares on her website and Instagram account where she has attracted over four thousand followers.

]]> Meet Ashley McDonald an 18 year old soon to be university student who loves painting. She was born and raised in a small town in New Zealand and has a passion for creating art. She loves animals as well as the environment and it definitely shows in her art.

Ashley loves to create works of art based on nature to showcase the beauty that surrounds her. She loves her native New Zealand and its unique animals such as Weta, Kokako, Tui and Kaka but in general she’s a big fish and bird nerd. Currently she is studying for her Bachelors of Science and plans to contribute to environmental conservation.

Her art is not only a form of expression but it also helps her raise money towards her university fund. In the past, she has successfully completed a project “Ashley’s Fish Art” before branching out to animals of all shapes and sizes. Recently, she made 46 animals portraits painted using watercolors and pencils.
