Travel to the future to a unified world without borders where our interconnection to each other and nature is impossible to ignore. By tracing your migration with string through the new world map your threads will blend with everyone else's becoming difficult to distinguish each others revealing an inherent truth. Having lived in three continents and traveled to over 30 countries has been my primary source of education next to the people in my life. It has not only made me more open-minded but also more empathetic and caring for others. Travel and exposure is key to breaking down barriers and understanding that we have more in common than we may think, this is the sentiment I hoped to evoke with my installation. The Earth tent is a simple statement of peace and unity; by going inside everyone is welcome to reflect on this possible future where we've overcome our differences and become a unified species working together to make the world a better place for all. *I do not apologize for the inaccuracy of the map because, who cares. Borders are made up through greed and ignorance and have been a constant source of conflict. It’s this distinctiveness, together with the overall sense of optimism that his art emits, which has caught the attention of brands as big as Facebook, Nike, Cirque du Soleil, all of which have collaborated with Dyer.

Born in Peru and based in Toronto, the world is Dyer’s oyster. It is also where he finds his inspiration for his work. “We are all interconnected and even though we’ve created borders and hierarchies in the world we are still one people, a race of explorers in the constant pursuit of perfection,” he reflected in an interview with Talenthouse. “We have to learn to better help each other.”

According to Dyer, his purpose is to encourage social change through his mural, creating works that communicate the necessity of evolving and rising above our differences by understanding the interconnectedness of all living things. Reworking simple graphic elements into complex, sometimes meditative, patterns and meditative, his art is also meant to evoke a feeling of uplifting wonder.

With more than 20 years of experience under his belt, we might as well take note.

Paola Delfín is a Mexico-based artist who breathes life into old, boring walls with her remarkable grey murals. Although you can find her work in cities all around the world, she explains that the one she has painted in Cancun is her favorite. It depicts a couple staring forward as they cradle a small boat.

“My family, uncle, and aunt are part of (the) pioneers. They moved to this city almost 40 years ago and watched it grow. They started school. My uncle worked on a ship for many years. Now the younger generations are trying to bring more culture since this city transformed into a tourist paradise, and sometimes we forget this was the place where centuries ago the great Mayan culture (rose),” the artist told Colossal and added that before even starting a new project she learns as much as possible about the history and culture of the neighborhood she is working in.

She shares images of her creations on her Instagram account where she has attracted more than 37,500 thousand followers. Scroll down and see for yourself why people are so much into her work.

Any artist knows that one of the most time consuming things to work on is a mural. Regardless of talent and skill, it can still take an individual dozens if not hundreds of hours to finish a mural, especially a sizeable one. That’s exactly what happened to this artist, who is based in Perth, Western Australia.

Claire Marie decided to let her creativity get the best of her, and the result is 120 hours of her time having been spent over the past few weeks creating a large mural that includes some of pop cultures biggest and most famous characters.

This list of characters include the likes of Deadpool and comic book characters, as well as characters from the animated movies, Monsters, Inc., and even classic Mary Poppins.

Scroll down below to see snippets of how the entire process started out and what the result was over 26 days, or 120 hours of work.

Known for her bold and vibrant designs, that blend typography with paintings and installations, London-based artist Lakwena Maciver is here to make a statement.

Her murals have a sense of urgency to them, bringing forward phrases and mottos such as: “Together We Stand,” “The Power of Girl,” and “Raise Your Hopes.” Simple, yet powerful, her murals serve as uplifting mantras, a call for action, and a symbol of positivity within the city landscape.

“I have my own practice making paintings and I do commissioned work alongside this – predominantly large-scale public murals,” explained Maciver in an interview with Lecture in Progress. “I also sometimes collaborate with brands on products or campaigns.”

Talking about her work process she added: “I work from my studio above Ridley Road Market in Dalston. Every day looks different depending on what projects I’ve got on. There’s always a lot of admin and answering emails – that doesn’t change. Sometimes I’ll be planning a mural, sometimes reading and writing as research, sometimes contacting suppliers, sometimes I’ll be outdoors painting a mural, sometimes prepping boards to paint. It’s very varied. I also often travel internationally to paint murals, or to exhibit work abroad.”

“I’m not much of a self-promoter,” she admitted. “The large-scale nature of my work has helped in this respect, as it’s like a giant advert for me in a way. Instagram is also helpful, although I have, at times, a tortured relationship with it. If I could, I’d leave it altogether as I find it overwhelming to be confronted with so many images, particularly the highlights of everyone else’s lives and careers – it’s distracting. So now I don’t follow anyone, I just put out what I’m doing as much as I can, which isn’t much.”

With 100k followers on Instagram, it’s a good thing she continues sharing her work, adding a pop of color and positivity to our otherwise bland feeds.

Ola Volo’s murals really pack a punch. The Kazakhstan-born, Vancouver-raised painter and muralist has a distinctive artistic style that draws from history, multiculturalism, and folklore.

Bringing her background, tradition, and history along with her, her paintings have an air of fantasy about them, mixing together animals, people, architecture, and nature to articulate diverse stories rich with symbolism.

“Growing up in Kazakhstan at my grandparents’ farm, my grandparents would put on records and we would just listen to folktale stories,” she recalled in an interview with CBC. “I spent a lot of time kind of getting swept away into a different world.”

Her work is widely recognized for its inventiveness and imaginative gesture, and her murals work to transform public realms and outdoor spaces. “The bigger the wall, the more of a voice it has,” said Volo. “It is an imagined world that I create of Russian and Kazakh and Polish stories, and the minute I started doing the artwork on walls it became larger than me.”

With clients that include Starbucks, Louis Vuitton, Lululemon, and Volkswagen, the sky is truly the limit for this talented creative.

Most painters tend to stick to their canvas. But Mexican born, California-based artist, Jet Martinez, isn’t most painters. The full-time muralist and painter, covers huge surfaces with bright botanical scenes, that are inspired by Mexican folk.

“I honestly can’t remember a time when I didn’t draw or paint,” admitted the artist in an interview with The Design Kids San Francisco. “From an early age, I have made a connection between my art and my life. In my childhood I moved a lot. Drawing and painting were some of the main constants in my life. They were also a way for me to make connections with new people in new places. That has carried on throughout my life.”

According to Martinez, he originally went to University to study Spanish Literature. “In my third year of school I took a painting class and enjoyed it so much I decided to drop everything else,” he explained. “I dropped out of school and spent the next couple years building up a portfolio to go into art school. I moved to San Francisco in 1996 to go to the San Francisco Art Institute.”

From then on, his career sky rocketed. “The streets of San Francisco were a perfect place for me to get started on my career because I could tap right into my own artistic cultural heritage, while tapping into the newer forms of street painting that were and are still going on.”

Check out some of his striking murals in the gallery below.

I had the real pleasure of spending a couple weeks in Cozumel, QR, Mexico with the @pangeaseed and @proyectopanorama crews and a grrrrip of lovely artists for the most recent edition of @seawalls_ . A lot goes into these projects and I’d really like to thank everyone from @pangeaseed and @proyectopanorama, operations, local artists who received us so warmly, restaurants that fed us, hotels that housed us, businesses that sponsored trips for us, So many people ….and most importantly for me, @okellyording. Thanks babe. . More info on the project 👇🏽 . . "Pérdida de Coral es Pérdida de Cultura" (Loss of Coral is Loss of Culture) by supporting ARTivist @jetmar1 (USA) for @pangeaseed Foundation latest edition of our international public art program, @seawalls_ Artists for Oceans in partnership with @proyectopanorama. . Location: Cozumel, Mexico | 20.4230° N, 86.9223° W . Swipe 👈🏽 to view process and detail photos. . Mural theme: Coral Reef Degradation, Bleaching, and Loss of Habitat. . Artist statement: Coral and Coral Reef ecosystems are currently suffering catastrophic losses caused by ocean acidification, human development and many other preventable and now, non-preventable causes. Coral reefs support far more than just underwater creatures. They also support local human and animal communities. As we saw in Cozumel, they also help create a vibrant economy through tourism. That economy, however, can have serious impacts on the Coral. . This mural features a bright floral pattern based on local embroidered shirt patterns. The floral pattern is a metaphor for local Cozumel culture. Directly below the floral pattern, is a stylized composition of bleakly colored coral forms, Sargassus seaweed, and a fish which once used to represent the island of Cozumel. All seems fine above the water line, but as the state of coral reef systems deteriorate, more and more local cultures will be affected and dramatically changed. . PC: @abovebelowphoto . Gracias to @mexicobienhecho for sponsoring all of our acrylic paint and materials for Sea Walls Cozumel. . #pangeaseed #seawalls #cozumel #seawallscozumel #protectwhatyoulove #ARTivism #paintforapurpose #proyectopanorama
