For the past six years, Lital Spivak, a teacher, blogger and MA student from Israel, has been writing about the connection between art history and popular culture. On her Instagram account, she shows modern day art and its historical inspiration. The modern images she chooses are well known but most people don’t know it was inspired by classic paintings.
Spivak explains that by learning art history, we become more conscious of the real meaning of figures and symbols that surround us.
