The 69-Year-Old Professor Goes Viral For His Fun Experiments

Education should be taken very seriously, but no one says that it can’t be fun at the same time. And the classes of Dr. David Wright from Tidewater Community College are a prime example of that.

Erica Church, one of Wright’s students, recently posted a compilation of amusing experiments that he performs during classes on Twitter. The clip shows the 69-year-old professor setting things on fire, lying on a bed of nails, riding a skateboard for scientific purposes, and much more.

While Church only wanted to show how Wright is a cool professor, the video turned in much more. It slowly started gaining traction and has since gone viral, with more than 27 million people watching the video.

After the video started getting attention, Church decided to let the professor know and she received a hear-warming response via e-mail.

“Thank you very much for sharing that with me,” Dr. Wright wrote. “It was an amazing semester, because I had amazing students.”

“I’ve never had a teacher like professor Wright or taken psychics,” Church told Yahoo when contacted about the video. “I was so nervous and worried that I wouldn’t do well. I thought it would be this dreadful class, which to my surprise, it wasn’t.”

Dr. Wright, on the other hand, intends to continue working with students despite his advanced age.

“My mission is to make science understandable,” he adds. “My knees are still good, and my students bring out my energy.”
