With paper, colors, threads, and pieces of fabric, South Korean artist Dan-ah Kim creates paintings with dreamlike imagery. Born in Seoul, today Dan-ah lives and works in Brooklyn, where she started working also in the field of cinema and television.
The aim of her paintings is to tell a story, a fantasy world in which to get lost and, with a style similar to that of children’s illustrations, she always manages to achieve it. We are catapulted into a dreamlike universe inhabited by strong female figures, exotic animals like tigers and elephants and an infinite variety of plants that surround every scenario. We suddenly fly into a reality that is distant from everyday life, of peace and harmony, which we no longer want to leave.
