Zach is the mind behind “Extra Fabulous Comics,” one of the funniest webcomics on the internet. His quirky, sometimes dark, sense of humor, has the tendency to flip stereotypes, idioms, and conventions upside-down, for wonderfully constructed plot twists in the final panels of the comic, that keep them fresh and funny. Sometimes employing meta approaches, and other times taking popular sayings to their absurd (and sometimes realistic) extreme, his intuitive style and content have gained Zach a wide-spread internet following.
The story of the artist itself is pretty interesting as well. Zach had always had low grades, because rather than paying attention in class, he had been doodling in the margins. After completing his degree in music, he realized that “music is stupid” and that he “is bad at it.” He reached a point in his life where he was buried in student debt, and felt unequipped to do anything with his life. So, what did he do? Well, he realized that maybe his stupid passion for doodling comics was his actual passion, and so he began publishing his work. Zach says that he is learning every day, and finds that being open to criticism has helped him significantly learn, grow, and improve his work.
