When blogger Hannes Coudenys noticed that there are many Belgian structures that are really peculiar, he started documenting them in 2012, sharing to the world that Belgians have a different understanding of good architecture.
“Normally, if you like architecture you like good houses, but in Belgium, there’s a lot of ugly architecture. So I started taking pictures of it, ” Coudenys told Bored Panda. He explained that when it comes to architecture, Belgians like to go against the flow. “Because regulations are quite liberal and we love to design our own quirky dreamhouse,” he shared.
Despite gaining social media attention with so many people amazed by the uniqueness of the buildings, Coudenys said that many house-owners were not happy about their homes being criticized online so he stopped the blog for a while then re-launched it again in 2013.
