This Whimsical Street Art Will Brighten Your Day

Artist David Zinn started added strange little creatures on the sidewalks of Ann Arbor, Michigan, in early 2008. Since then, he has added fantastical creations in hidden wall cracks and ledges all over the town.

He incorporates cracks and holes in the walls or sidewalks to create his characters. These whimsical creations are temporary, using just colored chalk.

Zinn claims he’s a shameless word nerd and an inveterate doodler. To him, this art is a way to brighten someone’s day.

When he isn’t drawing, Zinn is a theatrical performer, direct with the Sullivan society and the University of Michigan Gilbert, and also a designer. It is possible that he gets some of his inspirations for his characters from the theater.

He posts pictures of his work on his Instagram page. Look at some of his street art in the gallery below.
