When it comes to illustration, there’s nothing we admire more than clever use of patterns and textures. Minnesota-based designer, Zoe Wodarz, has just the thing we need. Bold, colorful, and minimalistic, her digital illustrations have a textured, hand-made feel to them, with her patterns being playful while still maintaining a level of sophistication.
A self-taught graphic designer and digital illustrator, Wodarz combined her learned computer skills with her background in fine arts, to launch her design career. “I love to combine different media to create new techniques and stretch my skills!” she told the BoomBoom Prints blog.
Her work includes trend research, surface design, and product line development, on top of pattern design and illustration. She has also licensed her illustrations to manufacturers for online shops and major retail companies worldwide. Her designs have also been featured in advertising and marketing campaigns for brand social media, editorial, and store merchandising.
“What I love about art is that it is never standing still,” she remarked. “My peers tell me I now have a slight signature style to my work but really I love to produce art and product design on demand,” she went on to say. “It is a special challenge to not rely on a medium or style for your inspiration but to let the world around you dictate the trends!”
