Artist Creates A Whole City From Toothpicks

Bob Morehead is a self-thought toothpick artist and the creator of Bob’s Toothpick City. In his work, the Virginia-based Morehead uses nothing more than wood glue and basic toothpicks. To make his Toothpick City, the artist used more than 300 thousand toothpicks.

“I believe all artists, at one time or another, become so discouraged they contemplate giving up their craft,” the artist shared in an article to WENN International. “When you’re made to feel like creating art is not a ‘real job’ by people who don’t understand or appreciate its true value, it makes one second-guess themselves. For me, creating is like oxygen. I can’t survive without it; it truly is a part of my being, a part of my soul.”

Made as an inspiration of the architecture along the Amalfi Coast near Naples, Italy, Bob’s Toothpick City weighs around 50 pounds and its 8 feet wide, 2 feet tall, and 2 feet deep.
