Believe It Or Not, These Flowers Are Made Of Paper

You’d probably have to take a closer look and Ann Wood’s flowers to realize they aren’t real. The artist has been perfecting her craft for decades, and today she’s able to create lifelike sculptures of flowers, butterflies and feathers with nothing but scissors and paper.

Ann has been creating her flowers since 1987, when she graduated from college and opened her studio, Woodlucker, with her partner Dean Wood. While most artists today take inspiration from leading modern artists and innovative styles, Ann has always had a love for rural, traditional arts and crafts. It was old painted cabinets and embroidered pillows that inspired her.

She was intent on combining these time-old traditions into her art, but in a fresh, modern way. Instead of using paint r thread, she chose a different medium – paper. Today she’s an expert in bending the paper to her will, cuttings, shaping and gluing it so any shape she likes. The result is stunning – the paper turns into nature under her hands, and it’s almost impossible to tell the difference at first sight.

Today Ann is still creating her tiny sculptures in her studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and sharing them on her Instagram account.
