Madeline Kate Martinez is an illustrator and daydreamer from Portland, Oregon who’s been passionate about art from a young age; since she was able to hold a crayon. She also describes herself as an “introvert with a love of wild things” who explores the outdoors with her doggie.
Browsing through her Instagram gallery, you will notice that she is a big fan of intentionality and minimalism. However, she says that she isn’t a true minimalist, because she “loves texture and greenery,” which almost always can be seen in her illustrations.
“I think the simplicity of my subjects plays well with the warm, inky textures I love to layer on top, creating a sort of Scandinavian-bohemian mashup that’s also pretty reflective of my personality, too,” the artist said in an interview for Ballpit. “I think that art is such a part of who I am that it’s almost impossible to separate it from the rest of my life. I think of my moods in terms of color, my thoughts become patterns and my personality is a shape (all my friends are shapes, too!).”
She documents her work on Instagram where her photos regularly get thousands of likes from her 106,000 followers.
