Eva Kosmas’ Food Art Will Blow You Away

When we say Eva Kosmas Flores is serious about her food art we really mean it. If we could describe her IG profile with two words, they would be: delicate and beautiful.

Not only does she cook, she also grows her own fruits, vegetables and flowers and uses them to cook food that looks so good you would want to eat your screen and ask for seconds if possible! Based in Portland, Oregon this young girl definitely knows how to make a simple dish look like a million dollars.

She doesn’t really have a lot of spare time because not only does she cook and take amazing photos, she also runs a blog, a website and has written one cookbook so far. Every single detail on her platter is so carefully thought of, you can actually see it her pictures. The angles, the light, the colors, nothing escapes Eva’s eye.  Her cooking style is rustic. She mainly focuses on heartwarming dishes, and she even makes her own honey and cheese.

She caters wedding parties and other events, but her favorite activity other than taking pictures is cooking with her friends on her bigfarm. Take a look at her pics!

Sharing the recipe for this delicious lentil soup on up the blog today! It's inspired by the Greek lentil soup my Dad made for our family growing up, but I couldn't help but add a little twist ☺️ There's caramelized onions and shiitake mushrooms in there, plus a dash of white wine, to add some umami 'ooph' and complexity to it! 😋 . It's super easy to make, is completely vegetarian, very filling + hearty, and incredibly good for you! 🌿 I always serve it with a slice of big crusty bread for dipping, 'cuz toasted bread soaking up flavorful soup is the BEST. 🙌🏼🥖🙌🏼 . You can grab the recipe via the link in my profile + in my insta stories! Highly recommend making this a nice slow seasonal Sunday and whipping up a big pot for yourself this afternoon 🧡 . As for me, Jeremy and I are heading out to the homestead and are going to check on the trees we planted and do some measurements for the trail we're going to work on making this winter + spring. You can follow along in stories as we attempt to stay 'dry' (aka soak ourselves) in the rain showers 😂 . . . . . . . #firstweeat #soups #eattheworld #soupseason #heresmyfood #foodandwine #foodiegram #farmfresh #buzzfeedfood #todayfood #farmtofork #recipeoftheday #forkfeed #tastingtable #foodoftheday #insiderfood #lovecooking #homemadefood #lifeandthyme #seasonalfood #feedfeed #foooodieee #drooolclub #food4thought #foodadventure #foodieblog #foragebyfolk #eatmunchies #fromscratch

Doing lots of planning for the homestead today, namely researching trail-building and really lovely camping tents. Jeremy and I want to spend more time camping there this summer and are going to make a small wooden platform so we can just leave our tent there and not have to set it up + take it down each time. If you know of any cool + durable tents, I'd love to hear your recommendations! 🏕 . I'm also nerding out about improving compacted soil, since the logging equipment really smashed down all the dirt on the property and made it nearly impossible to dig a small hole without a back-breaking amount of labor. So much of improving soil compaction relates back to all the bacterial and microbial life forms in the soil, so I'm thinking that mulching the areas where we hope to garden someday and then spraying them with a compost tea would be a good place to start. . It's really exciting to start from ground zero, because there's so much potential to grow and we get to make sure that the land is nurtured in the most natural + organic way possible. I know that we share the homestead with a wide variety of animals (we've seen a black bear, a bob cat, and a herd of 20+ elk on our wildlife cam there), and I want to make sure it's a safe and cozy home for them, too! 🦌🧸🐾🐻 . . . . . . . #foodstyling #darlingweekend #fellowmag #foragebyfolk #farmtotable #myopentable #morningslikethese #thatsgoodhousekeeping #thehomesteadlife #thatauthenticfeeling #littlestoriesofmylife #thehappynow #foodwinewomen #yahoofood #igersportland #foodphotography #foodstagram #inmykitchen #instafood #pgminseason #slowfood #storyofmytable #tablesituation #tastespotting #thekitchn #vscofood #bbcgoodfood #beautifulcuisines #thatauthenticfeeling

Spent yesterday morning getting our new bee 'nuc' settled into their hive. They seemed very content and well-tempered (aka no "angry" buzzing sounds coming from them, just soft buzzing). 🌻 . There was some honey comb, and also some brood comb, so the queen was doing her baby-making thing. Brood comb is comb that is filled with eggs and baby bees instead of honey, and it looks a bit different on the outside. Where honeycomb is capped white, brood comb is capped gold and is lumpier. 🍯 . The frame in this photo is honeycomb, that's why it's white at the very top where it's capped. The lower half of the frame is still empty, because the bees have built out the wax comb but not yet filled it with tasty honey 😋 . The queen is the only bee in the whole hive of thousands of other bees who can actually lay eggs, so the survival of the entire colony depends on her ability to reproduce for them. 🌿 . There's a crazy complex social structure going on in there that would take me a long time to write about, but if you're interested in bee keeping, I highly recommend checking out the book "The Queen Must Die" by William Longgood. By far the best book about bees + beekeeping that I've ever read! 👌🏼 . Can't wait to share more peeks at the hive with y'all over the summer as these ladies start enjoying more and more of the pollen from the garden 🐝🌼🐝 . . . . . . . #mygarden #instagardeners #gardenlove #gardendesign #gardeninspiration #inmygarden #trädgård #jardin #hage #giardino #outdoorliving #outdoorlife #instagarden #loves_garden #instagardenlovers #Forageandharvest #botanical #growsomethinggreen #growyourownfood #garden_explorers #garden_styles #organicgardening #folkscenery #forageandharvest #foragedbouquet #floweroftheday #flashesofdelight #pursuepretty #petitejoys
