Photographer Captures the Hardship of Wildebeests While Crossing Rivers

Corlette Wessels is a photographer based in Africa who loves taking wildlife photography to share her experiences and sightings with others. All her photos are taken in reserves and parks across Africa. For her, photography isn’t just a hobby but an opportunity that allows her to capture a fleeting moment in time.

She became interested in photography when her father used to take photos of almost everything. Corlette got her first camera as a gift from her husband and she never looked back. As her interest in photography grew, she invested in more sophisticated equipment.

Masai Mara, one of the seven wonders of the world, was a spot she knew she had to take photos in. One of the most famous things that happen there is the wildebeests’ crossing the river. It’s a major challenge to make it safely to the other side without the crocodiles attacking them. The photos show the animals being pushed down the river bank, falling down meters away, getting up, shaking off the dust and getting into the river to cross over.
