According to fashion designer and artist Rhea Ornias, art has the power to comfort and elate. Ornias should know, having immersed herself completely in art. Aside from being a fashion designer, she also draws portraits of women, to which she later adds a short poem.
“As an only child, illustrating and writing were my two great companions,” she shared in an interview with I Love Illustration. “I only needed a sunroom (with some drizzle outside) on a soft sofa with a mug of hot choco in my hands.”
Now, her social media pages are a celebration of her love of both writing and illustrating, with a dash of fashion. Born in the Philippines and based in Australia, Ornias uses her illustration and poetry as a way of communication, translating her thoughts and feelings into a beautiful set of symbols, that in turn, touches others.
“My poetry is about finding your authentic self, amidst chaos in this world,” she says. “I hope it will inspire self- love and courage not to sell out the dream. Life is more than being liked,” she stresses.
