In the world of makeup artists with original creations, Dain Yoon is one of the most noted artists. Originally from South Korea, this young woman specializes in surreal makeup very often based on her face. Turning it into a real playground, her face is staged, transforming into works always original and sometimes disturbing. Between optical illusion and surrealist paintings, Dain shares many creations on her Instagram account. With body paint, acrylic and applied cosmetics on her face, she offers us a real dive of modern times in Salvador Dalí and Pablo Picasso’s world .
Contrary to what some images might suggest, none of them have been manipulated with software such as Photoshop (or maybe just for minor retouching). Visual effects are strictly all achieved through makeup. This “art of illusion”, as she calls her works, sometimes requires long hours of work, patience and dexterity. Fascinated by painting since childhood, the graduate from the Seoul School of Fine Arts began using her body as an art medium in 2015. She is inspired by the works of the artist Liu Bolin, a real icon of contemporary art, nicknamed “The Invisible Man”.
Dain Yoon’s works often are so precise that it often takes several seconds to understand the illusion.
