These Plus-Size Dancers Redefine Beauty With Every Move

Most of us grew up thinking the world belonged to skinny people. Up until recently, athletic meant skinny. Dancing was either a way to lose weight or to show off your skinny body. But today, thanks to social media and a few inspiring dancers, that world is slowly changing. Meet the plus-sized dancers that prove that you don’t have to be skinny to dance.

Big moves is a dance company that was founded in 2000 by Marina Wolf Ahmad. Ahmad’s aim was to show the world that dancing isn’t just for a certain type of people – it’s for everybody. Big, small, athletic, clumsy – if you want to dance, you can.

Since then, Ahmad and her company have been working on spreading the love of dance across the globe and helping plus-sized people get involved.

The dancers in Big Moves don’t’ dance to lose weight – they dance to strengthen their bodies and express themselves. And they show that being big doesn’t make you less of an amazing dancer – you can be just as flexible, strong, and talented as anybody else!

Big Moves helps plus-size people get involved in dancing, but their message is for everyone – you shouldn’t let other people’s expectations define who you are. If you have a passion – follow it, and don’t listen to the haters!
