This Talented Artist Reimagines Pokémon Monsters as Human-Like Characters

One illustrator on Instagram is taking the Pokémon evolution to a whole new level. In the works of talented artist Frosty, all Pokémon have a final stage of evolution in which they become human-like characters.

Frosty’s has been a Pokémon fan since early childhood, and the franchise went on to have a big impact on her artistic journey. While she works in all sorts of media and with various themes, Pokémon “gijinkas” became her calling card. (“Gijinkas” is a Japanese term used to describe the process of giving human-like attributes to animals, plants, and objects).

It’s been more than three years since Frosty illustrated her first Pokémon”gijinka,” and she doesn’t intend to stop anytime soon. Her ultimate goal is to reimagine every Pokémon monster as a human-like character. Of course, this could be easier said than done, especially since there are close to 900 different Pokémon across games, anime, and manga.

“My goal for my project is to bring life to these characters, be versatile, and give them aesthetics,” Frosty explains. “Each one of these characters has a story to tell, whether it be good or bad but giving them humanity.”
