This YouTuber Brings Old Clothes Back to Life

We all know that feeling – when you’re just dying to get a new piece of clothing, but you can’t find anything you like? You may have a vision of what you want in your mind, but you just can’t find it out there, or it’s not in your price range, or maybe not in your size? Well, what about sewing that garment yourself?

Sewing clothing may seem intimidating, especially when it’s so easy to just go online and buy stuff. But this Youtuber is here to prove to you that sewing is not just easy, but also fun!

My latest me-made project on my Bernina B 335 is a polka dot slip ➡️ swipe to see the finished dress! 🎀⠀ ⠀ Before I had my Bernina B 335, I was scared of sewing slippery fabrics as they had a tendency to be eaten up by the machine’s feed dogs or slide all over the place as I was trying to sew a simple seam. Not with this machine! One thing I love about this sewing machine is that it (metaphorically) turns all fabrics into cotton! Eg. This is no more difficult to sew than some nice stiff quilting cotton. It feeds through the machine like a dream. 😍 No more screaming at my machine in frustration, trying to salvage the fabric it’s eaten up and planted a nice big birdsnest of thread onto!⠀ ⠀ Also this is my first attempt at making a #simplicity8186 slip dress, and the first time I’ve done straps and armholes using bias binding – I’m going to adjust the pattern a bit for my next go, but it is still very cute and wearable! 😀 ⠀ ⠀ #Sponsored #BerninaAmbassador #B335⠀ ⠀ [Image description: Image one pictures Annika seated at her sewing machine, concentrating, with a piece of pastel pink polka dot fabric underneath it. Image two shows Annika standing in front of a lot of green plants, showing off a her slip dress made of the same fabric, worn with a black t-shirt underneath.]⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #sewing#sewingmachine#berninausa#berninaag#berninaschweiz#berninalove#madetocreate#bernina#Bseries#BerninaB335#sewistsofig#seamstresslife

Annika Victoria is a 22-year-old Youtuber and student from Sydney, Australia. She loves sewing and DIY in general. She sees sewing as both an eco-friendly way to expand her wardrobe and as a creative outlet. It 2011 she started her blog to teach others about sewing, but soon decided to create video tutorials instead.

Ever since 2014, she’s been sharing sewing tutorials and tips on her YouTube channel. Her aim is to prove that sewing is for everybody, and can be done on any budget. Sometimes she creates new clothes from scratch, but other times she upcycles and mends second-hand or torn clothes, giving new life to outfits that would have otherwise ended up in the trash been.

You don’t have to be a master sewist to follow Annika’s tutorials – and even if you don’t want to create your own clothes, it’s always fun to watch her process!
