Tina Kraus Crafts Incredibly Detailed Paper Insects and Animals

Tina Kraus is a freelance illustrator and paper artist from Germany. Kraus specializes in crafting highly detailed replicas of insects as well as other animals using crepe paper.

Kraus, who studied illustration in her hometown of Munster, started gaining interest in paper as an art form during her teenage years. This included making pop-up books, paper toys, and other paper art pieces.

While working with paper, she constantly tries to perfect her craft and experimented with various techniques that culminated in her most recognizable project: lifelike Crepe Paper Sculptures.

She started the project in 2017, and since then, Kraus has mastered making these sculptures that it’s almost impossible to distinguish them from the real thing. She replicates the level of details in such a way that you might not be able to tell the difference even when you touch them.
