Printmaking is best known for its unique look and is being used by various artists from around the world. But many people cannot afford this due to very expensive cost of a printing press.
Open Press Project, founded by Martin Schneider, is the first 3D-printed etching press and aims to make printmaking accessible to everyone. Through this project, everyone who has access to a 3D printer can produce their own fully functional DIY press and print their own etchings or engravings.
Since launching the project last year, more than 12,000 people have downloaded the printing plans to create their own printing press. You can also purchase the portable press through Open Press Project’s Kickstarter at aroung $60.
