They say that practice makes perfect and if you keep doing it every day, for sure you will improve and get better. This is how artist Lorna Kelleher wanted to show. She decided to evaluate her drawing skills by recreating some of her older works.
She opted to compare her illustrations of Disney princesses two years ago against the drawings she did at present time. Scroll down below to check the difference and see what you like better.
I’m so much happier with how this Belle turned out! 😭😍 I remember two years ago that I wasn’t happy about her eyes and narrow face, so I’m really glad now that in my style she’s a bit more fleshed out. Sorry about the clothes, I was really just concentrating on the face 😅 which princess should I do next? ❤️
Time for my yearly Ariel improvement drawing! I can’t believe it’s been a year already? 😳 I definitely feel this year that my art style is going in a somewhat more consistent direction. It’s funny when I look at last year’s picture, and I remember how happy I was about how much I’d learned that year. It’s really nice to feel that way again now! How are you guys going with your improvement? I hope you’re checking regularly! It’s a good exercise ❤️ swipe for older versions, and the full version can be seen on my FB/Twitter 😊
A lot of people asked for Cinderella next! Last year I got quite a lot of hate for the version I drew, which, looking back; I can see why people didn’t like it 😅 that’s not to say there’s certain ways of expressing your opinion though! For the sake of not having to explain in the comments: yes, the one on the left looks more like the Disney Cinderella, because I was essentially just redrawing a screencap. It’s nice to have found a style that I’m comfortable with and makes me happy when I’m drawing. 😊 just wanted to say don’t be scared to try and make an established image/person in YOUR version, because that’s the whole point of making art ❤️
This is my favourite improvement so far! 😭 I’ve struggled so much with Jasmine’s features, and it really broke my heart that I felt like I couldn’t represent her for the past 2 years. It’s not perfect, but I feel like this is a much better attempt this year! Thank you so much for all your lovely comments and encouragement the past few days, you guys really inspire me ❤️
Next improvement check-up! I totally had my ethnicities confused in 2016 🤦♀️ I still really like my 2017 version too, but I decided to try out something different this year. Again, thanks for your messages since I’ve been away, especially on my stories when I was trying to address the unnecessary fighting on my last post. I really appreciate everyone who supports me ❤️😍
