Artist Paints Realistic Paintings That Look Like Photographs

Italian painter Marco Grassi creates portraits so realistic, that you might actually think they are photographs. For Grassi, women are his muses. He was born in Milan, but now he currently lives and works in Como, Italy.

“My goal is to stir deep emotions, trying to make people more sensitive,” Grassi told Bored Panda. “I want to combine reality and surrealism, exploring human thoughts and nature in a more personal way. The biggest challenge is always trying to maintain a level of extreme quality, both for the human figure and applied elements, trying to create a homogeneous work in every aspect, as well as overcoming the idea of painting in a way that imitates photography exclusively.”

Grassi’s work has been featured in many media worldwide, however, the artist also loves sharing his paintings on his Instagram profile where he has attracted over half a million followers, and his creations have been awarded by over tens of thousands likes.
