]]>Tati has loved art ever since she was little, but only started drawing herself in 2016. Although she learned to draw all by herself and has only been drawing for a couple of years, her talent is obvious, and she’s managed to develop her own unique style pretty quickly.
There are so many artists out there that try to reimagine animated characters, and especially Disney characters, as something else, but Tati’s approach is unique. Her style is very different from the signature Disney style, and she doesn’t simply draw her favorite character more realistically–she gives them a new, modern character, that would put them right at home at any modern-day American high school.
In Tati’s version, Snow White isn’t just a goody-two-shoes with a nice singing voice, she’s a rebel, wearing a t-shirt that reads “not your housemaid,” Lilo from Lilo and Stitch rocks a crop-top with the word Sisterhood scribbled on it, and Marceline from Adventure Time is a badass guitar player. We always loved these characters, but Tati’s art helps us fall in love with them all over again.

]]>John plant is just a regular guy from Queensland, Australia, with one unique hobby—he likes building stuff from scratch with his own two hands. He started getting interested in building without tools as a kid, and by the age of 11, he built his first hut.
John’s process is simple—if he wants to build something, anything, he starts from scratch. He only uses what is naturally available to hi, like dirt, rock, wood, and water. If he wants to chop down tree leaves to make a roof for his hut, he first has to build an ax from a sharp stone and a branch; if he wants bricks for that hut, he needs to make clay from dirt and water and shape it into bricks.
After university, John started recording his projects on his YouTube Channel, Primitive Technologies, and without even knowing, created a new genre of videos. Folks were hooked— they loved the idea of creating useful, necessary things with no modern tools. Today, John has 10 million subscribers, who follow his adventures, and sometimes try to build stuff from scratch just like him.

]]>Have you ever looked at a movie star and thought to yourself “he’d be perfect in a live-action version of this Disney movie?” You’re not the only one, and Helen Morgun goes even beyond just thinking it and she applies her considerable sketching skills to turn her favorite celebrities into iconic Disney characters. Among her works you’ll find Margot Robbie as Elsa from Frozen, Megan Fox as the disguised Sea Witch from The Little Mermaid, Taylor Swift as Tinker Bell, to name a few.
Helen’s process is pretty complex. She starts by looking for an interesting character in the considerable repertoire of the studio. Then, she has to find the perfect celebrity to personify that character. They can be physically similar, or they can have similar personalities for the magic to work. Once she has the perfect reference, she starts planning her drawings.
Then she starts sketching. Like many modern artists, her favorite medium is digital art, and she works mostly on Photoshop. She combines the pose and facial features of the celebrities with the clothing, background, accessories, and companions of the relevant Disney character to create the perfect mashup of real-life and fantasy.
The end result is a stunning and unique portrait that’ll give you a fresh perspective on Disney. Now all we have to do is wait for the studio to cast these actors as the leads in their live-action movies!

]]>Lately, Mattel has been putting a lot of thought and effort into making the Barbie world more diverse. The original Barbie is a lean, tall, trendy blonde, and while there are girls out there who can see themselves in her, there are many others who can’t. So Barbie has changed over the years to represent ever-expanding audiences: she started having more diverse interests, career paths, and styles. For Black History Month, which was in February, Mattel partnered with Bermudan stylist and creative consultant Shiona Turini to make Barbie even more diverse.
In the new collection. Barbie Style, Turini designed a series of dolls with different skin colors, hairstyles, and outfits, to represent as wide a range of beauty as possible. Each doll in the collection is totally different– and stunning. Now little girls can find the Barbie doll that looks like them in the toy stores and know that they’re beautiful just the way they are.

]]>What’s special about Tanaka’s art is that unlike other miniature artists, he uses everyday objects as background for his tiny creations. Most children have a way of looking at things and imagining them as something completely different – a piece of broccoli turns into a tiny tree in a tiny world, an empty bottle turns into a rocket.
Tanaka has been looking at everyday objects like that his entire life. For him, a blue towel looks like a miniature swimming pool, a CD looks like a tiny skating rink, and the broken screen of a smartphone looks like a fishing hole in a microscopic North Pole.
This way of looking at things gives him a fresh perspective. You can imagine a whole different world full of tiny people going about their lives, not seeing the bigger world around them. His tiny sculptures are cute – but they’re also thought-provoking.

]]>Heikala is an artist based in Finland. After graduating art school with a degree in graphic design, she went on to become a full-time illustrator. She’s illustrated for books and magazines, and her designs were even printed on apparel and accessories.
Heikala’s work is inspired by Japanese art, and specifically manga and anime. She describes her work as “cute”, but there’s so much more to it than that. Her style isn’t just inspired by Japanese drawing techniques, but also by Japanese themes, such as nature and magical creatures.
Whether it’s a mermaid sitting on a frog or a young person doing their laundry, all of Heikala’s illustrations have the same magical atmosphere. It’s as though she’s telling us that we don’t need to be a witch or wizard to enjoy the small moments of magic in our own lives. It’s not about escaping our world to another, more interesting one – it’s about rediscovering the magic that already surrounds us.

]]>Ipnot is a Japanese embroidery artist who’s invented her own style of embroidery. She originally learned how to embroider from her grandmother, and used the craft as a creative outlet.
But soon she started experimenting with the craft, she discovered that by using a specia stitch known as the French knot, she could create 3D embroidery. She used the new technique to create tiny embroidered sculptures.
Ipnot’s sculptures evolved with time, and today she’s able to create 3D miniatures that pop of the fabric and look incredibly realistic. She can create tiny pizza slices that seem to float in the air above the pizza or coffee that’s spilling from a floating mug.
She makes more than just food sculptures: she can also recreate popular emojis, logos of famous brands, tiny animals, and even people! Sometimes her art is so realistic, the only way to tell if from the real thing is by its tiny scale.
We hope Ipnot keeps creating her lovely embroidery and that she continues adding beauty to our world with her art!

]]>Myopia is a very common vision problem around the world. People who suffer from it have trouble seeing objects that are placed at a distance – the farther the object is, the more blurred it will be.
That means that reading from the blackboard, seeing a friend wave from across the room, even enjoying views are all difficult, if not impossible. Most people use glasses to fix the problem, but once the glasses are off, the view gets blurred again.
That’s the feeling Barlow wanted to share with his audience. The paintings seem to display interesting scenes – friends on the beach, urban views – but you can’t really see that, because it’s all blurred. You might even have the urge to squint and focus to see the images better, just like people with myopia have to do.
But there’s still beauty in such a perspective. The unclear objects make room for us viewers to explore light, shapes, and colors without being distracted with what they represent. Take a look at some of his work – does the new perspective inspire you?

]]>Over the past few years, dogs and puppies have become a bigger part of our lives. People bring their four-legged companions to school and work and they help out kids in hospitals – so it was only natural to get them involved in our physical exercise as well.
Puppy Yoga is meant to make what is already a relaxing, healthy activity even more fun. Puppies help the yogists relax, get out of their own minds, in the zone, and it’s also a great way to expose young dogs to people, teach them how to communicate, and play with their humans.
It’s also extremely fun to watch, which explains why it ‘s become so popular on social media. Who wouldn’t want to see puppies in a yoga class? They play around, try to help their human companions, and make the entire experience even more fun. They’re also a great way to get people involved in physical activity – after all, would you miss a yoga class if you knew it had puppies?

]]>Richard Wong is a paper artist from Perth, Australia, who uses his skills and talent to create tiny paper animals. The world of paper art is huge and diverse, and most artists stick to one type: some create with scissors or scalpels while others only fold their paper. Some will never paint their pieces while others do. But Richard doesn’t stick to just one style – he uses all tools available to turn his artistic vision into reality.
Richard’s paper art is special in more than one way. Other than being just gorgeous, it’s also impressive because of how realistic and tiny it is. Some of Richard’s paper statues are so small they can fit on the tip of your finger, and still, it’s so accurate it looks almost like a living thing. His creations inspire not only an appreciation for art, but also for nature.
