Alexandra Rock and Jackie Ruddle are two best friends who met at work a long time ago. After leaving their old job at L’Oréal, the women decided to start their own business. Now Rock & Ruddle is a small company that creates and sells high-quality hairbrushes.

Rock and Ruddle have always been very into hair and haircare, and their time at L’Oréal helped them learn the ropes of the industry. They describe their work there as a “perfect place to learn the finer details of creating and marketing high-quality products.”

Because Alexandra couldn’t find a “brush with good quality natural bristles that was also bright and beautiful”, she came up with the idea to make her own. Then she presented her plan to her friend, and their new company was born.

Besides the amazing bristles, the hairbrushes are made in adorable designs as well. They come in fun colors such as lilac, turquoise, and yellow, and fun designs like roses, dinosaurs, butterflies, and ladybugs. The product also has a removable bristle pad, which makes it easy to clean.

If you’re into treating your hair, check out the images below. Don’t forget to follow their Instagram page and leave a nice comment!

While some are afraid of bugs, others find them quite beautiful. Including, for example, artist Duran Jay, who uses them as an inspiration for her eye makeup creations. She always has been into insects but recently started to appreciate them even more.

She thinks that parents are those who plant the fear of bugs into their kids’ minds. And with her makeup looks, she wants to help people to begin seeing bugs as beautiful creatures.

“With my makeup, I try to showcase some of the most beautiful species like butterflies or jewel beetles, but also give a little appreciation to those that aren’t as pretty and typically evoke a bad response, like ants or silverfish,” she shares in an interview with Bored Panda.

Scrolling through her Instagram feed, you can see colorful makeup looks inspired by tiny insects. She first finds an exotic bug on the internet, and then she tries to visualize an image in her head. Lastly, she does magic with the help of her brushes.

Each product she uses is made by a cruelty-free brand. The looks she makes are usually done in a matter of minutes, while others can take an hour or so to be finished.

If you aren’t afraid of bugs, check out her Instagram see her work.

Marialaura Fedi’s art makes for a soothing effect. Often painted with blue and gold, it features faceless characters against dramatic, yet strangely serene backdrops. Situated between illustration and painting, her work though minimalistic in essence, is pregnant with meaning and symbolism.

Born near the sea in the south of Italy, Fedi grew up herself against a serene backdrop. “I grew up in a luxurious and bright countryside,” she shared in an interview with the Glossary. “There wasn’t so much to do so I started painting all the beautiful colors and shapes that were around me, then it became my work.”

Having grown up, she tended to her artistic side by studying at the Fine Art Academy of Rome where she further developed her skills. Currently based in the Roman countryside, to this day she finds inspiration and beauty in her natural settings.

Indeed, nature seems to pop up in her work (here a flower, there a tree). Another common theme in Fedi’s work is women and femininity. Oftentimes, the two elements, women and nature, are tied together.

“I think women have the same strength and grace of nature, so they are the perfect medium to communicate my inner feelings,” Fedi says.

According to Fedi, her artwork shows how feminine self-confidence comes from peace and grace. See for yourself!

We can’t stress enough how important it is to wash your hands, especially these days. Washing your hands properly can help prevent the spread of germs (like bacteria and viruses), as most of us tend to touch our eyes, nose, and mouth without even realizing it.

But washing can also be a chance to pamper yourself; God knows we could use some TLC. Enter Whitechapel Soap. Based in Los Angeles, California, the handcrafted soap brand is run by Jared Simons. Describing himself as a humble soapmaker, Simons had a successful career as a cook and chef for over 20 years, before transitioning into soap making.

According to Simons, both cooking and soap making rely on science. “If you don’t understand what’s happening when you’re cooking, it’s never going to make sense,” he explained in an interview with Matter of Hand. “With that, the cooking translates to the soapmaking. I wasn’t that interested in chemistry, I just needed to understand what was going on so I spent a lot of time just looking on the internet.”

The years of experience sourcing ingredients in the kitchen also came in handy, as Simons now looks for the finest natural and sustainable oils. His ingredients olive oil, coconut oil, and shea butter, as well as water and sodium hydroxide.

Naturally, his soap bars also make the ideal gift. “I actually finish each bar with a boot brush to kind of knock off the rough edge and give it a tumbled look,” says Simons. “So each bar has a little character.”

Take a look at his collection in the gallery below.

“I tried to find a way to express my classical painting knowledge within a size that could fit people who can’t commit for a sleeve or big work,” the artist explained why he mostly does micro tattoos. “I try to design as minimalistically as possible. For some women, having flowing long hair is a dream come true. It looks very feminine, and there are tons of different hairstyles to try. But for others, it’s a real nightmare because of the amount of work it requires – the constant care, endless preparations, and having to buy products to keep it shiny and beautiful.

No matter which group you belong to, you will be quite stunned when you see this real-life Rapunzel. Alena Kravchenko is from Odesa, Ukraine, and her 1.8 meters (6ft) long hair is her trademark. This 34-year-old woman let her hair grow at the age of 5 and has never cut her hair in her lifetime, and she never intends to. Her mother has always supported this choice and encouraged her to keep her long hair.

With a height of only 1.66 meters (5’6″), her hair is longer than her, but Alena doesn’t mind. She takes really good care of her hair and uses a plethora of different products to keep it healthy. She also dries it naturally to avoid damage. Even though this may take a lot of time, Alena simply loves caring for her hair and would never change her style!

Illustrator Sasha Ignatiadou treats the creative process as a form of meditation – one that requires a certain headspace and involves a practice of reflection. “At the moment I’m working intuitively and all the illustrations that I create are rather an emotion that I try to show,” she explained in an interview with I Love Illustration. “I like to work in a calm, relaxed state, so I do not hurry to release one work per day.”

Developing a sketch and then choosing the right color scheme takes time and practice, with Ignatiadou’s tools including both analog and digital helpers (anything from acrylic and watercolors to oil paints and Photoshop).

Most of her work centers around themes of femininity and nature. Stirred by female beauty, plants, and eastern cultures, Ignatiadou treats the world around her as an endless pool of inspiration. “Inspiration literally accompanies me everywhere,” she admits. “I love my work so much that it’s enough for me to wake up early in the morning, to make coffee, to turn on the music and off you go… There are no special attributes of my inspiration, ideas are born from what I see around me, in nature, in books, on TV, in magazines.”

All this boils down to a simple, yet striking, piece of art.

We live in a world full of unrealistic standards, photoshop, and beauty filters. Natural beauty is something so rare it feels like a breath of fresh air. While some people like to share their photos on Instagram without any editing, Olga Kamenetskaya decided to do the same only with dolls.

The Ukrainian artist started painting dolls as a hobby, but over time this has become her full-time job. She uses mass-produced dolls like Barbies, transforming them into realistic beauties.

But there’s a catch! Each doll has some “imperfection”, to make her all the more real. “I don’t like it when the face of the doll is ideally and perfectly symmetrical, It makes her lifeless,” she says.

Kamenetskaya does more than just repaint the dolls, she also changes their shape and size and uses wigs to make them even more realistic. With over 60k followers on Instagram, it seems that other people are catching on to her message.

Take a look at her unique dolls:

Ayhan Karadag is a Turkish tattoo artist best-known for his beautiful minimal and colorful tattoo designs. His passion for art started when he was only 11 years old and for him, art is his fun, his culture, his lover, his ritual, his everything.

During his artistic journey, the Istanbul-based Karadag experimented with different kinds of art. He made ancient Greek musical instruments, clay, and wooden sculptures, played with watercolors, and draw with pencil. However, he discovered that his true love is doing art on the human body.

“While making art, I realized that a person’s body is the most valuable material and that I want to make people happy when they look at my work on their bodies…” the artist shared on Bored Panda. “I don’t think there’s anything more gratifying than carrying the fairy-tale design that one imagines in his body all his life.”

When doing his magic, he loves to tell the fairy-tale stories which happen in our dreams, he creates beautiful stories fusioned with nature and animals.

He documents his work on Instagram where he has attracted almost 100k followers. Scroll down and check out his work below.

Positivity is such a rare thing online – it seems like most people go online to tear others down. So it’s an absolute treat when we come across someone like Dulce Candy Ruiz, who wants to build others up through kindness and positivity.

Ruiz is a Mexican born beauty guru and online influencer. She immigrated to the United States with her parents as a child and joined the Armed Forces, where she served as a mechanic for two years. After her service, she started working as a mechanic, and in an attempt to add some femininity to her life, she started creating short makeup tutorials on YouTube.

These were the early days of YouTube, and the kind of content that Candy was making was rare and in demand. She soon became an online celebrity, and her brand grew each day.

As time passed, Candy expanded beyond makeup. She started sharing tips about lifestyle and fashion, as well as details about her life. Today she’s one of the biggest beauty and lifestyle gurus on YouYube and across social media, with over 1 million followers!

What makes her so popular? It’s not just her beauty tips or early start on YouTube – it’s her warm and welcoming personality, her candidness and her dedication to spreading kindness on the web and around the world.
