Philippine City Creates Beautiful Flower Garden Using Plastic Waste

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure, or in this case, everybody’s plastic waste becomes a city’s next tourist spot in the form of a beautiful and awe-inspiring flower garden.

The city of Lamitan is located in the southern part of the Philippines, in Mindanao, the second-largest island of the archipelago. Mindanao, although known for many tourist spots and natural beauty, it has had quite a negative reputation for being the home to both local and international terrorists. Even though the island has definitely improved its security in recent years and has become relatively peaceful, the stigma remains.

This is why many cities in Mindanao struggle to draw in tourists, especially in Basilan, which is where Lamitan is located.

In a build to help draw in tourists, as well as help the environment, the city government of Lamitan decided to use plastic waste to create a beautiful flower garden that’s perfect for today’s “Instagram Culture.”
