Project Skyglow Raises Awareness For Light Pollution

The world we live in suffers from different kinds of pollution and light pollution is just one of the problems our planet is facing that most of us aren’t even aware of.

Skyglow is a term referring to the brightness of the night sky in urban areas as a result of light pollution. Timelapse artists Gavin Heffernan and Harun Mehmedinovic have made a unique brand of astroimaging and timelapse videos to examine the growing impact of light pollution on our living environment. It is already known that light pollution affects human health, animal behavior and energy wastes.

But, their project focuses on one question which no one asked yet – what are the psychological consequences of a sky without stars? The project is also a journey through history, mythology, and astronomy through a photo book, short video series, and a documentary film which has been featured by some rock legends like The Rolling Stones and Roger Waters and supported by many media outlets.

In the links below we will exhibit some of their works and we encourage you to research more about this important topic!
