Kit King’s hyperrealist portraits are almost too good to be true, coming across as highly detailed photographs rather than paintings. And yet…with almost 350k followers online and exhibitions around the world—anywhere from the United States and the United Kingdom to the United Arab Emirates—King never fails to deliver.

“Art is life,” said the Bahamian-Canadian artist in an interview with Jung Katz, adding that both her parents are artists. “Art is my breath, my escape, my happy place,” she gushed. “Art is my own safe haven in a hectic world. It’s where I go to hide from it all, and is also where I go to enjoy it all.”

With artistic talent clearly running through her veins, King never took to formal training but rather taught herself the basics from scratch. “I’m sure you can learn a ton from art school, but it depends on what you want to take from art, and where you want to go with it that should determine whether or not it’s for you,” she explains.

“For me, I couldn’t imagine being ‘taught’ art. It’s one of the only free things in this world and I’ve personally gained so much from having the artistic process be 100% my own journey, untainted from outside influence.”

“Whether I make it big, or die a nobody, I spent my life doing what I loved, and I didn’t need student debt to make that possible,” adds King. But of course, she need not worry about “making it” in the industry. Having won several awards, her work is found in both private and public collections including the MET’s publication collection.

Here are some highlights from her Instagram page.

People are obsessed with posting things from their life on social media to show just how perfect their life is. Perfect hair, perfect make up, perfect partner, perfect job, everything is simply perfect. But is it? Or is everything just a cover for the things that we dislike?

Young-sung Kim is a South Korean artist who questions society and the advanced development of material civilizations through his projects “Nothing. Life. Object.”. Kim has been obsessed with the beauty of living creatures ever since a young age and uses them as a metaphor for people’s life. According to Kim, people use living organisms as decorative elements or food even though we share the same environment and have the same meaning and value of existence. He says that people use them for clear purposes when they have certain reasons and that this reflects to almost every relationship people have – between people, people and organization or people and society.

With his paintings, he also wants to address the problem that humans tend to show their life perfect even though their lives aren’t so different from the animals that try to survive in a small space, exposed in front of everyone.

Article on @mymodernmet🐳 South Korean artist Young-sung Kim has made a name for himself thanks to his hyperrealistic oil paintings of fish swimming in glass bowls and cups. Kim uses minuscule brushes to pull out every detail of his subjects, whether it be the colorful tail of a beta fish or the shimmering scales of a goldfish. Painted on large canvases, the animals are laid out like living still lifes for the viewer to admire. The photorealistic paintings are part of Kim’s ongoing series Nothing. Life. Object. that speaks to the disintegration of modern society in the face of the “advanced development of material civilizations.” By juxtaposing living and material things and displaying them as a piece of theater or advertising, Kim wishes to comment on society’s tendency to neglect living organisms. The painter’s fascination with the beauty of living creatures began when he was a child, as they forced him to stop and contemplate their place in the world. These creatures are now metaphors for life in Kim’s series and they are forced out of their natural setting into an object that cages them. “What is the meaning or value of living organisms in the modern civilization? What is the meaning of living organisms to humans? They exist with us in the same environment, but they are always faced as food or decorative elements in a lower hierarchy,” Kim writes. “Despite that they are living things with meaning and value of existence, the humans only use them for clear purposes when we have certain reasons. In the modern society, this structure is applied to the relationships between men, men and organization, or men and society. Humans, a living organism, is sometimes considered and used as a functional object.”

When you see Alessandro Paglia’s work for the first time, you’ll be hard-pressed to determine whether the image in front of you is an especially grainy photograph or a fantastic 3D drawing. But a closer look will reveal the thousands layers of inked pen that Paglia uses to compose a perfect play between light and shadow. The Milanese artist, mostly known for his hyper-realistic drawings of pop-culture stars and more recently iconic cars, spends anywhere between 50 and 250 hours creating one of his large-format pieces due to his extreme method of drawing and meticulous technique. His latest creations include two stunning black and white drawings of open wings and a series of luscious paintings of gold-dyed hands which show that he’s brilliant with color as well.

By “superimposing a layer of chaotic lines on top of another”, Paglia is able to create intricate pieces that look so alive, natural and smooth but communicate powerful intensity. Obviously gifted with a superhuman degree of patience, he applies small strokes overlapping each other until he gets the desired effect, then works hard to make sure everything blends in perfectly. But besides being incredibly aesthetically pleasing, each of his pieces tells an original story, often underlined by a last-minute twist by the artist.

Check out his one-of-a-kind gallery and enjoy!

The images and video below are made by Russian artist, Max Buriachenko. From this, we see sculptures of the famous Avengers movie, Josh Brolin, popularly known as Thanos.

The sculpture looks really neat and has a close resemblance with the image portrayed. From here, you can see other sculpture works carried out by this sculptor.

His creation method is casting as seen in one of his video tutorials. He uses homemade items for casting and teaches others how to do the same. After preparing the cast, he starts to work on the tiny details that make it look even more real. Most of his works are posted on his social media page so you can follow him to get more pictures of his work.

With respect to many fields in life, so many people have stood out by following the general principle guiding the production of certain things. They, however, don’t stop there, but they add their own extras, which is what makes their results extraordinary, thereby making them outstanding.

This is the case of Tigran Tsitoghdzyan, a hyperrealism artist, whose works are shown here. Tigran who was born in Yerevan, Armenia started out his painting career at the age of five, and when he was ten years old, he already had 100 artworks ready for his first exhibition.

From his gallery, we can see how beautiful his artworks look. Probably the uniqueness of his works can be traced to the clever merging of the fingers with the faces of the images he’s drawn. This is really amazing, as one can see both the face and the fingers, all merged at one point.

Most of the time, we come across hyperrealistic art and we are blown away by the creativity required to create it. But have you ever seen hyperreal sculptures? Get ready to be blown away.

These amazing videos show the works of a Mexican hyperrealist sculptor, named Ruben Orozco Loza. Ruben produces his sculpture works from molds of clay, and according to him, each sculpture takes about 5 months to complete.

In his words, “the most complex part is not making them look like the person, it’s giving them life” The artist makes them look so real, that even their skins appear almost like real skins. Each sculpture looks so detailed, with the different parts well in place. Even the hairs on their heads, the moustache and beards look almost real.”

Among his works are sculptures of the English Singer, David Bowie, Mexican icon, Frida Kahlo, and even Pope Francis.
