]]>Freddie has made a huge mark in the music world and Queen is still one of the most popular bands because of it, continuing to be an inspiration for all their fans around the world.
Butcher Billy is a Brazilian designer and illustrator who this time, got his inspiration from this legendary band. He created a series of vintage comic book covers, each one different and inspired by a different song from the group.
This is not the first time for this artist to create comic books covers. He has also made covers for the show Black Mirror, as well as Stranger Things and sometimes even a mix of two or three different movies or songs to achieve a greater effect. His artworks are very refreshing and he’s most certainly breaking all the rules. Butcher Billy has also collaborated with Netflix, Warner Bros, Marvel, LA Times and Washington Post.
We are definitely looking forward to seeing more from this talented artist!

]]>A street artist at heart, her unique technique allows her to bring another dimension to the image. “I’m most happy when I can join photo with illustration,” she writes on her website. “All of my illustrations are hand-drawn and colorized in a digital way,” she explains.
“I love to create extraordinary images thanks to my quite unique mixed-media style; weird things, skulls in candy colors, hands, hearts and skulls,” she told the Mill. “All of my works are hand drawn and colorized in digital. I also love to paint, because of my fine art background so street art is a way to continue this passion.”
It’s little wonder the world fell in love with her fresh sense of style, attracting huge clients like Esquire Magazine, ADIDAS, and MISBHV. So what in store for this young punk? “In the future, I would like to become magic mermaid, pirate, skateboarder or ninja,” she says.

]]>This work is part of his project “Little People,” in which he brings to life funny worlds using miniature dolls but with the intention of dealing with a very serious topic.
David says that he spent several days collecting bags full of plastic and garbage that had been discarded next to beautiful places such as the beaches and lakes on the west coast of Scotland. Once he had all this “material”, the photographer kept a part of the garbage for the needs of the project and recycled the rest, then returned to the shores of Lake Lomond to take the photographs for this collection.
The result is a series of light-hearted, fun and original photographs that are still imbued with an eminent critical voice. David says that his main hope is that this series will contribute to raising awareness about the problem with plastic pollution.
We hope this will inspire more people to clean their local beautiful spots and be the change they want to see in the world.

]]>Canadian photographer Chris Herwig released his amazing collection of photos of bus stops after a long tour of various towns in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Abkhazia, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Belarus. After a while he came back to the topic for a second time, this time wanting to repeat his search for stop in Georgia and Ukraine, two of the countries where Soviet ideology left the greatest mark.
The architectural diversity of these discoveries is still as impressive as in its first volume: there are stops in the form of trains, birds, light bulbs, rockets, castles and even one that incorporates a statue of St. George killing the dragon.

She also published her first book last year, titled Faceless.
“My career began in 2010 when I started posting my artwork on Instagram,” she shared with Square Mile. “I was living in London at the time and was working for the Stockholm agenda; illustrating and photographing the London scene, covering events such as Fashion Week and designing street style illustrations. Thanks to the latter, I managed to secure an inaugural solo exhibition at the Pickpocket Gallery in Lisbon in 2011.”
“Simultaneously, I had started working as an illustrator for the Spanish newspaper El Mundo and moved to London. The Art Director of El Mundo, Rodrigo Sánchez, gave me my first collaborative opportunity. Since then, it’s been a meteoric whirlwind.”
“I’m self-taught and interested in all fields of art,” she went on to explain. “I’ve worked with many diverse clients on all kinds of projects as a photographer, art director, and a painter. I like to mix these mediums but ultimately, I would define myself as an artist.”

]]>The London-based artist shoots all of his subjects in his studio, then seamlessly blends different photographs with each other using Photoshop. In his famous project Bodyscapes, he presents layers of human bodies positioned in a way that forms abstract landscapes, recreating deserts, mountains and barren ravines. The concept worked so well that he then created Foodscapes, a series of vivid landscapes made out of food that look both fantastical and undeniably delicious, inspired by the view of sea of foods at supermarkets.
The process of creating each scene is time-consuming and frustrating, considering that fresh produce wilts quickly under the merciless studio lights, but Warner makes the transformation of ordinary food into a magical landscape look so easy-going and natural that you almost feel like it’s a part of the real world. Using composition and lighting, he balances all elements into a cheerful and elaborate composition which deceives the human eye.

“I never thought about being a photographer,” admitted Ásgeirsdóttir in an interview with wertn. “It was my dad who suggested it when I finished high school. I wanted to move abroad but I did not know what to study, and he knew that I liked Berlin, but I was looking at literature studies etc, and he said ‘why don’t you do photography? It’s what you’re doing right now!'”
Indeed, Ásgeirsdóttir showed an interest in photography early on. “I bought my first camera when I was 12, and took photos of leaves on the ground,” she admitted. Her photo-shoots have a spontaneity to them that can’t be duplicated. “I tried to do more shootings where I plan everything but I never end up with that result; I think it also should be fun, and I really like having a bit of freedom without a very clear idea beforehand, instead of thinking ‘I have to make it perfect,'” she explained.

“The purpose of my art is to be visually stimulating while creating a topic for conversation,” explained the artist in an interview with Super.Selected. “My work captures, femininity as a social construct as well as biological attributes. My work captures a lot of the Western ideals of femininity when I include stilettos, clothing that accentuates the waistline, and certain body shapes. On the other hand, I want to challenge Western ideals of feminine beauty. That is why I paint more women who look like me – women of color.”
“I try to create work that is aesthetically pleasing,” she went on to say. “It has turned out, what is visually striking to me is also aesthetically pleasing to a lot of people.” According to Okoro: “art can be a tool for political activism. First it’s a way to draw attention to an issue. Art can make people ask questions. Second, art can unite the public so that they can engage and contribute to change.”
