Have you ever thought about the actual size of asteroids? Asteroids are defined as minor planets and they can vary a lot in size, with the big ones measuring up to the size of some of the biggest cities on Earth and more! This video created by Alvaro Gracia Montoya of MetaBallStudios puts things in the perspective in a terrifying way, but we still can’t look away from it.
The video begins by comparing the size of smaller asteroids to humans, trucks, and homes, continuing to larger and larger planetoids that compare to the size of New York City and finishes with the biggest, scariest ones. Even the great Stephen Hawking mentioned asteroids as the biggest threat to Earth in his latest book, Brief Answers to the Big Questions in 2016.
