The Most Breath-Taking Pink Lake In The World

We only recently finished exploring the last parts of the world, and one of the latest finds occurred in the 19th century, when explorers discovered a beautiful pink lake just off the southern coast of Australia. They named it Lake Hillier and it has remained virtually the same for the past two centuries, even though it grew in popularity.

This lake is one of the top destinations in the world to get some like-worthy Instagram pics. Its stunning rose water gets its colour from the micro algae Dunaliella Salina and the lake is surrounded by beautiful shores of sand and salt. It’s located on the Middle Island in the Recherche Archipelago, and its rims are only a few hundred feet away from the sea, which contrasts really well with its dark blue.

Even though it has abnormal quantities of salt in it, Lake Hillier is safe to swim in, and people have been taking advantage of this unique opportunity – to swim in a practically untouched and almost completely isolated pink lake. So, if you want to check out one of the most breathtaking sights in the entire world, head on over to Australia’s Middle Island or check out the pictures below!
