Woman Unexpectedly Goes Viral With Her Embroidery Patterns

Jen Smith never guessed she would become an embroiderer, much less a famous one. She currently has more than 110,000 Instagram followers, a website, and an online shop where you can find all her creations.

Her embroidery story is quite unusual. It all started when she randomly found a pattern on Etsy and decided to give it a try. To her surprise, she immediately fell in love with the craft. She loves how tactile it is and how she can play with colors.

Although she finished school for business, life took her back to her beginnings: she was raised by creative parents and knew how to sew and cross-stitch.

Before putting thread into a needle, she first draws her idea on her iPad and then traces them from there. On Instagram, there is a big embroider community, so people copying each other is not a new thing. Although Smith is quite worried about people re-doing her work, she still chooses to stay positive.

“I try to tell myself that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and keep doing my thing. I’m also touched by how often it’s brought to my attention by my followers,” she said in a statement for Embellished Talk.
