Filmmakers Aleia Murawski and Samuel Copeland are the genius brains behind the idea of creating detailed miniature worlds for their pet snails. These snails drive limousines, drink champagne, bathe in jacuzzis and watch funny TV shows.

Murawski said in an interview with It’s Nice That that everything began when Copeland found snails during a visit to his parents in Illinois. They first made a terrarium for them and treated them like pets. This period corresponded with Murawski and Copeland starting to create miniature scenes together, and soon they figured that these scenes are more or less snail-sized. That’s when they realized they could animate these rooms and make them come alive by putting their pet snails in them. And it worked!

If this is at least a little bit intriguing for you, we strongly recommend that you scroll down and check out the supercute human-like snail world these two artists created, and trust us – it will blow your mind!

If you take a close look, you might recognize some of the buildings from her drawings. There are details from the Strasbourg Cathedral, such as the arched doorway, or Notre Dame’s windows, known for their hypnotizing floral ornaments.

Though she sometimes uses colored pencils, her color palette is mostly monochrome. She uses highlighting techniques to make her drawings seem tridimensional, and the precision of the details makes them look like a photograph.

Some of the most important questions in our life are those that question the meaning and the ways of our existence. What often fascinates us in art is playing with different possibilities and the width of the artist’s imagination. Surreal art often addresses different possibilities of existing, and this animated movie is all about that. The story follows a man named Floyd, whose life becomes a surreal and abstract challenge after a moth flies into his ear and stays there.

The name of the movie is Into the Flame and it was directed by Sean McClintock. It shows Floyd’s dramatic and dark journey in which he tries to escape his fate of becoming a moth and he also confronts his mortality. There is no dialog in the film, so it mostly combines graphic symbolism and animation to create the story that resonates on a deep level of perception.

Though it lasts only 6 minutes, creating this project took two years. Everything about it is strange and unexpected, and the story certainly has some Kafkaesque elements.

Check the pictures below and the film to see the amazing 6 minutes of Floyd’s psychological journey.

Enjoy!

Jon Ching is an artist located in Los Angeles whose mesmerizing surreal oil paintings of birds will take your breath away. He paints mostly wildlife, and his specialty is birds. Ching’s goal is to underline the connection between birds and nature. Therefore, he uses special techniques of manipulating colors and textures to turn the traditional art of painting birds as subjects into something new and innovative. Every one of his paintings is rendered to every single detail, and the compositions of paintings are full of metaphors.

Ching’s interest in birds began after he discovered a fascinating bird photography book. He became inspired by the complexity and power of birds. In his paintings of bird portraits, he replaces things that look similar to appreciate nature’s interconnectedness and adaptation.

Ching is impressed by the symbiosis found in nature as a natural phenomenon and as a metaphor.

His work is recognizable by geometric structures and multicolored prints. In this article, we want to present you with his recent work in Fort Smith, Arkansas, where he painted an abandoned home and named the project “The Rainbow Embassy.” This was organized in collaboration with the curating organization “Just Kids,” whose mission is to revitalize local neighborhoods in Arkansas using public modern art.

Okuda’s work focuses on deep subjects such as false freedom in capitalism, contradictions in existentialism, as well as the duality between modern life and the human roots of existence. He is also very interested in colorful pop art and the rich inner layers of foreign cultures, and he is not afraid to combine all these elements in his work. Many people consider winter to be the nicest time of the year. As everything slows down and it becomes calm and beautiful outside, you are getting ready to warm up under your new comfy blanket with Netflix tempting you to start binging on a new show.

In December, we are all reminded that Christmas is approaching and that another year is about to end, and it’s time for a proper recapitulation.

Bloom is a comics artist whose works are mostly inspired by wintertime and all the silly and unpleasant things girls experience when the temperatures drop. For example, weight gain is definitely not working in their favor, as well as the more regular and more pronounced mood swings.

Her comics also portray the differences between expectations and reality in regard to what December will look like. We expect to be done with all of our obligations and get busy with fun stuff like decorating the Christmas tree, while in reality, we are often stuck writing the last batch of reports for the university or catching up on undone business for the ongoing year.

As 2019 comes close to its end, we suggest getting under that blanket and having a nice laugh with Boom’s original comics!

Ahhh, pies. Those pieces of heaven filled with all sorts of deliciousness that brings sparkles in your eyes and joy in your gut. Everyone loves them and they are a staple of every family gathering ever, especially during the holidays.

But have you ever seen a pie that looks so damn good that it is almost a sin to eat it? If you haven’t, let us introduce you to Jessica Leigh Clark Bojin. This self-taught baker creates astonishing pies that will make you drool and most certainly leave you with your mouth open. Inspired by pop culture, Jessica’s pies are an adorable mixture of the traditional and the modern. She bakes pies with the face of Freddie Mercury, the adorable little lion king Simba, and of course, Baby Yoda!

We are pretty sure that each and every one of her pies raises a bunch of questions about how she made it, but we are also certain that no one is questioning her talent. We hope some of her mind-blowing creations will inspire you to take a different approach to food decoration and take bold moves when it comes to playing with food!

Happy National Pie Day everyone!! 💕🎉🥧🎉💕 ⠀ Those who have been following along my pie journey these past three years know that one of my big goals has been to prove once and for all that pies are a viable alternative to cake for that coveted front-and-center wedding buffet table spotlight. Folks have been reticent to “go cakeless” even when they love the taste of pie, because they were worried pies were just too flat and unflashy – that pies couldn’t make a proper visual statement in the reception hall. Well! I hope I may convert a few new believers this Pie Day with my first three-tier Wedding Piescraper! It has chocolate silk filling, a pie pastry crust and pie pastry decorative panels, all held together with chocolate around a custom designed stainless steel spool armature (food safe of course!) ⠀⠀ You can watch the full timelapse video of its creation on my site PiesAreAwesome.com and I’m happy to answer any questions about its construction here too. It’s very sturdy and even stood up to my six year old taking bites out of it with his hands behind his back! 😂 Now I’m off to check out everyone else’s fabulous pie celebrations (and to spread the word that #PieIsTheNewCake 😜) 💕🥧💕 ⠀⠀ #nationalpieday #pieday2018 #pieday #piday #piday2018 #chocolatepie #chocolatesilkpie #pieart #piesareawesome #weddingpie #ilovepie #eatmorepie #thekitchn #pierevival #tart #tartart #bhgbaking #pastry #piescraper #pastryartsmag #tastemademedoit #gloobyfood #thrillist #feedfeed @thefeedfeed #eater #cupcakeproject #cakeart

Siew Boon discovered the art of jelly and quickly got hooked. After taking some classes, the Sydney-based creative became really good at making 3D models using only jelly. And as she got better, she started getting requests from her friends.

One friend asked her to make him a cake. She delivered an awesome 3D jelly cake with flowers and petals vibrantly colored – everything you would expect from a professional cake decorator! After Boon discovered a talent for 3D cakes she decided to dedicate an Instagram profile to her cake art and got more and more requests every day.

Sadly, in 2017 Boon was diagnosed with breast cancer. Of course, she had to put her artwork at ease for a while, but once she got better, she wanted to thank the doctors who took such good care of her and did it the only way she knew how – with custom made 3D jelly cakes!

Today, after having beaten the illness, Boon continues to amaze us with her unique creations. Follow her to get some positive inspiration and perspective:

You might think its already too late to find new and exciting places to explore on our planet, as humans managed to cover the entire Earth, but there are still some remote places left to explore. Amongst them are the deadly wet desert, and the deep, dark sea. Down there live creatures in complete darkness.

Munich design house Kurzgesagt created a lovely animated educational video in which they take a deep dive all the way to the bottom of the sea.  The narrator, Steve Taylor, explains what nautical species can survive at different ocean levels and how light influences life at the deepest waters on our planet.

These places aren’t just deep, they’re Challenger Deep. Challenger Deep is more than 10 kilometers below the ocean surface. “Taking a swim here is like having to balance 1,800 elephants on top of you,” explains Taylor. But still, little sea cucumbers, as well as pink and white amphipods, live there.

Sadly, although humans don’t go so far and deep, it’s not safe from human influence. At the deepest levels of the sea, you can still find pieces of plastic bags destroying the environment.
