He starts his project by researching the image he wants to reproduce. Then he does a sketch in Photoshop. Next, he adds the base colors and lastly “fuzzes the image up.” We must admit—the final product is really amazing!
For quite some time, he has been pushing himself with animation as well, and he’s getting better and better with it.

]]>The unusual series is a result of Babina’s constant pursuit of new ways to express his creativity. He isn’t afraid to change his style or dive into different types of artmaking if he feels so, and as a result, he is creating some impressive works.
In Wirefaces, he explores his fascination with geometrical shapes and colors while taking on familiar subjects to channel it. This includes musician David Bowie, revolutionary figure Che Guevara, scientist Albert Einstein, and several others.
“In an attempt to reach the linguistic essence of telling a face, these portraits are depleted of matter, the changing shadows are part of the composition, and the voids carry an expressive meaning,” explains Babina.
Besides 2D illustrations, Babina has reworked his Wirefaces into 3D sculptures with the help of 3D artist Daniel Giordano. These sculptures were created in a way that they are constantly changing according to the observer’s point of view. You can check them in the video below.

]]>Experimenting with a Stable Diffusion text-to-image AI model, Vorbach decided to fake some photos of his dog wearing tiny hats. The photos were so realistic that he figured why not use it to fake human photos, namely a profile photo of himself.
After trying out several methods with Stable Diffusion, Vorbach managed to create, as he called it, a “Ryan Gosling person.” The AI would come up with a fake photo of a person that looks a lot like him using the combination of Vorbach’s photos and those that belonged to actors Macaulay Culkin and Ryan Gosling –celebrities that people told him he looked like.
Vorbach was impressed with the result and decided to share one of the photos on his Instagram. “Easily the best picture I’ve taken in years,” he captioned it.
The photo got him positive reactions from his friends and family, so he decided to take his project to another level. He generated a series of photos that showed him at a Halloween party, meeting up with friends in Los Angeles, and getting a new car.
And everyone bought it despite the fact that he was at his parents’ house in upstate New York the entire time. No one doubted anything, even when he posted a fake with Gosling.
Despite his fake life scheme working as a charm, Vorbach ended up realizing this was just too much work. He ended up coming clean to his friends and making a video about the whole experience.
“When I started this project it was for fun, but it is a lot of work sifting through thousands of images all day and all night staring at a machine’s idea of your face until you don’t even know what you look like anymore,” he explained in the video.

]]>Stallone enjoys mixing the past with the present in the most unusual ways in his works. This can be seen best in his recent series of illustrations that reimagine popular logos of modern companies in Medieval style. The list includes the clothing brand Lacoste, the dating app Tinder, and the computer operating system Window.
Stallone did a great “rebranding” job, keeping the key features of each logo but adapting it to the Middle Ages aesthetics. So, for example, the logo of the Firefox browser still has a fox on fire, but the idea behind it is taken more literally.
“I’ve been designing, illustrating, and especially logo-making for a long time, and I realized that I can combine the work that I love and the atmosphere of the Middle Ages,” he shared in a recent interview with My Modern Met magazine.
You can check out more of Stallone’s reworked logos below.

]]>Matt recently decided to share a series of amusing Photoshop interventions that have his father as the main star of iconic artworks like Cassius Marcellus Coolidge’s “Dogs Playing Poker,” Edvard Munch’s “Scream,” and Jacques-Louis David’s “The Death of Marat.” While this is already entertaining, Dom manages to make each work even funnier thanks to his mannerisms and clothes. He always wears the same sweater and cap while adjusting his body talk to the theme of the painting.
Matt’s Photoshop interventions starring his dad are nothing new. He has been doing them for the past several years, choosing different sources of inspiration like pop culture, movies, and TV shows. For him, it’s less about the final product and more about quality time spent with his dad.
“We can spend hours sat laughing around the dinner table while we come up with ideas, and it’s never a bad thing to have an excuse to hang out with him,” Bonito revealed in a recent interview. “I also just love the creativity of it all.”

]]>Ojala is a well-known illustrator, graphic designer, and art director from Estonia whose works were published in media all around the world. Like, for example, his digitally done paper cuts inspired by the pandemic were featured on the cover of TIME magazine. But he was also featured in many other publications, websites, blogs, and newspapers.
He begins his project with an idea transmitted onto a blank sheet. When the sketch is done he transfers his hand-made work to the digital world.
“Within my work process, I like to study the forms of shapes and to work closely with light and shadow. I like to keep my illustrations minimal and well-advised. I combine consummate craftsmanship with a healthy sprinkling of wit,” Ojala told The Huffington Post.
Every “paper cut” is done with so much precision. The artist seeks inspiration from events that affect us all. From the pandemic and global warming crisis to problems that humans are dealing with daily.

]]>Some use this power to fix lighting issues, contrast, and other little flaws that their photo might have, while those like Russian digital artist Stas Novikov use it to create a whole new reality.
Novikov is one of those people who decided to really push the limits of this handy tool. He does this by photoshopping himself to create all sorts of strange and surreal scenes.
In one photo, you can see Novikov placing his head on the table and carving it like a Halloween pumpkin. In the other, he is sleeping in a huge sandpit while a bunch of heavy machines is trying to bury him.
While these somewhat disturbing photo-editing works make up for most of Novikov’s artistic portfolio, he also occasionally engages in some more down-to-earth edits as well.
Whether you like his over-the-top edits or not, we can all agree that Novikov’s works are true works of art. So let’s check out more of them below.

]]>Frosty’s has been a Pokémon fan since early childhood, and the franchise went on to have a big impact on her artistic journey. While she works in all sorts of media and with various themes, Pokémon “gijinkas” became her calling card. (“Gijinkas” is a Japanese term used to describe the process of giving human-like attributes to animals, plants, and objects).
It’s been more than three years since Frosty illustrated her first Pokémon”gijinka,” and she doesn’t intend to stop anytime soon. Her ultimate goal is to reimagine every Pokémon monster as a human-like character. Of course, this could be easier said than done, especially since there are close to 900 different Pokémon across games, anime, and manga.
“My goal for my project is to bring life to these characters, be versatile, and give them aesthetics,” Frosty explains. “Each one of these characters has a story to tell, whether it be good or bad but giving them humanity.”

]]>Paleorex specializes in paleoart, a term used to describe artistic work that aims to depict prehistoric life while using scientific evidence as a starting point. With the help of digital software, this talented artist recreates the looks of extinct animals and depicts how they would look if they were still roaming the Earth today. He shares all of his works on Instagram, where he has close to 25K followers.
“My goal is to depict long-gone creatures as if they were animals living among us today,” the artist explains in his Instagram bio.
Thanks to Paleorex, internet users are being introduced to lesser-known but fascinating animals with unique traits. For example, there is Dorygnathus, who resembles modern big birds with one notable exception. Instead of a regular beak, the one of Dorygnathus had long and sharp teeth that made him very successful in catching small prey.

]]>Originally from Minsk, Belarus, and currently based in San Diego, California, Griesinger works as a freelance graphic designer and illustrator. According to Griesinger, it is her formal training in drawing and painting which makes the basis of her design work—proof that digital artwork can still benefit from classical groundwork.
But to get to where she is today, a lot of trial and error was needed as well. “It took me a while to define what my own style would look like,” she noted once in a chat with The Design Kids.
According to Griesinger, the recipe for success lies in the effort being put. “Try everything, stick to what most successfully illustrates your ideas and comes off more naturally to you,” she says.
These days, her style shifts between two opposite poles: a more realistic approach to illustration and a clean-cut, geometric-based approach. “I think it is only natural that after years of practicing both I became a greeting card graphic designer and illustrator,” says Griesinger.
Recent work of hers includes a botanical interpretation of the English alphabet (part of the @36Daysoftype challenge) and some festive greeting cards.
