Illustrator Fusions Animals With Everyday Objects

Redmer Hoekstra is a 37-year-old artist based in the Netherlands who merges animals with architectural exteriors and everyday objects. According to the visual artist and illustrator, he always loved alienation and fantasizing, daydreaming.

“As a child I all had theories about how the world worked and I rediscovered this at the academy and incorporated it into my drawing,” Hoekstra shared on his personal website. “For example, because I open up devices and objects and then freely fill in what is inside. This often gives a subject a completely different feeling or meaning. I associate on form, meaning and effect and thereby new combinations arise.”

The artist fusions owls and books, giraffes with toothbrushes, and imagines swans composed of dandelion seeds. He shares his work on his website, Behance and Instagram where he has gathered a following of over two thousand people.
