]]> You know how some people get famous because they look like some famous celebrity? Well, it appears that can also happen to dogs. One adorable Brussels Griffon named Proshka recently became a viral sensation due to his unusual looks that remind people of several famous movie characters.

When they see Proshka, who lives with his humans in Yorkshire, UK, some people immediately get reminded of the mogwai creature Gizmo from the 1984’s cult classic Gremlins. Others are convinced he is the spitting image of the Star Wars character and legendary Wookiee warrior Chewbacca. Several people also compared the dog to Grinch, although we believe he’s too adorable to steal Christmas. 

Proshka gained prominence on social media when his owner Stefani Doherty started sharing photos of her four dogs on Instagram. While all siblings are cute, he ended up being the one people related to the most.

“He seems to make people smile, and right now I think we need that more than ever. He is the happiest dog despite his grumpy face,” shares Doherty.

]]> Crusoe the miniature dachshund proves the case that bigger isn’t always better. In fact, it’s Crusoe’s miniature posture that has won him a massive following online (mainly on Instagram and YouTube). Having also won a People’s Choice Award in 2018 for “Animal Star”, trust us when we say that the hype is real, and well deserved.

“Although we give a voice to Crusoe, we feel that the personality you see online is a reflection of his real personality,” says his owner Ryan Beauchesne in an interview with Dogster.

“He loves adventure and exploring new places, and for a small dog, he’s very brave. He loves to play and squeak from morning till midnight, but is also not very cuddly or kissable (hence his tough-guy image online).”

Indeed, the miniature black and tan dachshund is keen on adventure and has traveled the world (at least when travel was possible), both locally and internationally, to places like the Bahamas, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Mexico.

His photos and videos often see him sporting some miniature (and often hilarious) costumes. In one video he’s seen as a brave ghostbuster, while in another (more lo-fi production) he’s simply running around in a Mickey Mouse costume. It’s this kind of top-notch content that has amassed him over 800,000 fans on Instagram and almost two million subscribers on YouTube.

But at least according to Beauchesne, the love for Crusoe goes further than his celebrity status, and has to do with his charming personality. “Sometimes, I wonder if Crusoe is actually a special dog or if it’s just this online character we’ve built that makes him seem special,” admitted Beauchesne.

“But people—even those who do not know he’s a celebrity—comment over and over how handsome he is or how human-like he is. So I think there is something different about him. He was meant to be a celebrity.”

]]> Like other arctic dog breeds, the Alaskan Malamute was originally bred for its strength and endurance to haul heavy freight as a sled dog and hound. To this day, you can still Alaskan Malamutes hauling freight and helping out their human companions, carrying light objects through snow-covered landscapes. Most Alaskan Malamutes, however, are brought up as pets.

Such is the life of Tydus. Based in South Africa with his human buddies and pet companions (a parrot and a kitten), Tydus most likely will never see a sled in his life. But with almost 150k followers on Instagram, this Instagram celebrity doesn’t complain.

“We came across the breed and were intrigued by their personality and the fact that they are not as hyper as Huskies,” his owners shared in an interview with helloBARK!. “Not to mention their amazing look and stature! We undertook some research and had our mind set on getting a Malamute.”

His stature is indeed impressive (take in mind that Alaskan Malamutes can reach 100 pounds). But what makes his Instagram page stand out is the fact he’s being brought up alongside his buddies, Trez—an 11-year-old Congo African grey—and Bane, a one-year-old rescue kitty.

“Trez is much more vocal,” admit the South African pet owners. “He is our African grey parrot and has a motor mouth! He warms up his voice box every morning at 6am.”

“Their personalities are completely different! Monroe is calm and quiet while Tonka is impatient and argumentative. They are both more like people than dogs. I believe it’s because I treat them like people and I expect more from them and they never let me down. They are both extremely intelligent,” Bonnie said in this interview.

“We didn’t see it coming at all. Ramsey’s owner gave us an insight into her personality, so we can get to know more about the Cavapoochon hybrid. According to them, as a mixed-breed dog, Ramsey is the perfect combination of the best characteristics across the three dog breeds.

“Just like a typical poodle, Ramsey is SO smart, sometimes too smart for her own good. She is very trainable and learns tricks incredibly fast. She is also extremely loving and friendly like Cavaliers and Bichons. She instantly loves everyone she meets and wants to be friends with everyone,” the owners told in an interview with Hello Bark.

Would you smile if you saw this guy bombing down the beach in his wheelchair? I might be biased but he sure makes me smile! Finn absolutely LOVES the beach!! Prior to his accident, when he was still capable of hiking and backpacking in the mountains, he still would choose the beach over that any day! Now, the beach is a great place for him to easily bomb around in his chair so we have been spending a lot of time there for him. While we love camping in the van, sometimes it is nice to have a dog-friendly place to call home for a few days at the beach! For us, we always turn to @vacasa – with 3,000+ dog-friendly vacation rentals there is never a shortage of places to choose from – whether you want beach, mountains, lakes or cities – they have something for the whole crowd! “It’s amazing to see what they can go through and bounce back from,” his mom told The Dodo. “Finn’s attitude is just all or nothing. We’re truly blessed to be among their company. He’s never given up and it’s just incredible to know that he never wanted us to give up on him. He’s the most important thing in my life.”

Currently, Finn goes to physical therapy and fortunately, after hours and hours of walking on an underwater treadmill, he started building strength in his disabled legs.

Finn recently watched both “Don’t F**ck With Cats” and “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez,” and he is disgusted with humanity. For real. He looked right at me and said “I am glad I am a dog. You humans are messed up.” Seriously though. What is going on in the world today? Who has seen these? What are your thoughts? To say I was disturbed after Dont F**k With Cats is an understatement and as infuriated as I was the entire time, I couldn’t stop watching. In fact I struggled to sleep after seeing it. Finn loves to sleep in tents! I think he misses the backpacking trips where he would crawl into the tent and curl up on my sleeping bag after a long day of hiking. He would wait anxiously for us to set up the tent and be the first one in when the door was unzipped. After a nap he’d be ready to play and check out the campsite! Recently, just for fun we set up the tent just to let him go in and hangout for a while. It definitely isn’t the same as his days of backpacking but he seems to enjoy it. Just like old times – when he saw us getting it set up he wheeled himself to the door to be let in! Do you ever have that stomach dropping, near-tears feeling where you realize how much you’re going to miss a moment even when you are still living it? This was one of them. Pre-nostalgic. To be honest I have been having a lot of those with Finn lately because I am so terrified of losing him. So tonight, and maybe every night this week, I am going to set the tent up in the yard just so he can enjoy a brief “camping” trip! Geez, maybe we will even sleep out there. Finn is living proof that no matter how hard you try, you can’t always protect breakable things. Bones. Hearts. Spirits. Sometimes things break and they can’t get put back together the way they were before, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be wonderfully different. The past few weeks we noticed a shift in Finn. He seemed to be restless, unmotivated and bored. He seemed discouraged and we were discouraged for him. This is why we chose to risk his dependance on a wheelchair. Why we chose to give him that freedom over waiting to see if he progresses with mobility on his own. We are already so happy with the choice! It has been amazing to see his response to his new wheels! While there certainly are many words to describe him now – broken, limited, immobile, disabled… alive is truly the only one that matters to us! Swim, treat, walk, ride, hungry, beach, lets go, sniff, camping and squirrel…. those are the words that matter to Finn! He lights up when he hears them and we are going to make sure he hears them loud, clear and in abunance! Finn is amazing, kind, alive, resilient, immobile, wise, old, happy, awesome and a little bit broken. Like all of us, he is a story made of so many wonderful and sad words that mean nothing and everything all at the same time! MORE FINN, PLEASE! I have been getting a lot of requests for more posts about Finn along with a lot of questions. For those of you who know his story, I apologize for the recap, but I decided it would be easier to address some of them here! + What happened to Finn? In January Finn suffered spinal trauma from a terrible leap he took off of our camper van bed. Since then he has had physical therapy weekly in the form of swimming, underwater treadmill, cold laser therapy and electro-acupuncture. While he does have very limited mobility in his hind legs and we still hope that will progress more over time, we decided that at his age (14) we would risk wheelchair dependence so that he could enjoy some freedom. + Where did you get his wheelchair? We worked with his physical therapist @healingartsvet to get fitted for an Eddies Wheel’s wheelchair. We had it custom made with “off road” durability so he could bomb around the beach, cruise hiking trails and do all the things he loved doing prior to his accident. + Will Finn walk again on his own? Finn can take a few steps at a time – some days are better than others. We are not sure if he will ever do much more than that, but he still full of life, loves playing with toys and doesn’t at all feel sorry for himself about his current circumstances. He is still his same goofball self (this photo about sums that up as he takes a break mid-walk to have a big yawn). In fact, watching how resilient he has been through all of this has been humbling to me. He truly is FINNspirational! + Can Finn lay down in his chair? No, the chair is made solely for adventuring and getting exercise. He can, however, go to the bathroom with it on. + How much did Finn’s wheelchair cost? Finn’s wheelchair was just about $600 for the chair alone and $150 for the fitting and measurements. I do suggest if you are looking into a wheelchair for your dog that you have it fitted and measured properly to ensure it is comfortable and built to your dogs needs! ]]> You know how some people get famous because they look like some famous celebrity? Well, it appears that can also happen to dogs. One adorable Brussels Griffon named Proshka recently became a viral sensation due to his unusual looks that remind people of several famous movie characters.

When they see Proshka, who lives with his humans in Yorkshire, UK, some people immediately get reminded of the mogwai creature Gizmo from the 1984’s cult classic Gremlins. Others are convinced he is the spitting image of the Star Wars character and legendary Wookiee warrior Chewbacca. Several people also compared the dog to Grinch, although we believe he’s too adorable to steal Christmas. 

Proshka gained prominence on social media when his owner Stefani Doherty started sharing photos of her four dogs on Instagram. While all siblings are cute, he ended up being the one people related to the most.

“He seems to make people smile, and right now I think we need that more than ever. He is the happiest dog despite his grumpy face,” shares Doherty.

]]> Crusoe the miniature dachshund proves the case that bigger isn’t always better. In fact, it’s Crusoe’s miniature posture that has won him a massive following online (mainly on Instagram and YouTube). Having also won a People’s Choice Award in 2018 for “Animal Star”, trust us when we say that the hype is real, and well deserved.

“Although we give a voice to Crusoe, we feel that the personality you see online is a reflection of his real personality,” says his owner Ryan Beauchesne in an interview with Dogster.

“He loves adventure and exploring new places, and for a small dog, he’s very brave. He loves to play and squeak from morning till midnight, but is also not very cuddly or kissable (hence his tough-guy image online).”

Indeed, the miniature black and tan dachshund is keen on adventure and has traveled the world (at least when travel was possible), both locally and internationally, to places like the Bahamas, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Mexico.

His photos and videos often see him sporting some miniature (and often hilarious) costumes. In one video he’s seen as a brave ghostbuster, while in another (more lo-fi production) he’s simply running around in a Mickey Mouse costume. It’s this kind of top-notch content that has amassed him over 800,000 fans on Instagram and almost two million subscribers on YouTube.

But at least according to Beauchesne, the love for Crusoe goes further than his celebrity status, and has to do with his charming personality. “Sometimes, I wonder if Crusoe is actually a special dog or if it’s just this online character we’ve built that makes him seem special,” admitted Beauchesne.

“But people—even those who do not know he’s a celebrity—comment over and over how handsome he is or how human-like he is. So I think there is something different about him. He was meant to be a celebrity.”

]]> Like other arctic dog breeds, the Alaskan Malamute was originally bred for its strength and endurance to haul heavy freight as a sled dog and hound. To this day, you can still Alaskan Malamutes hauling freight and helping out their human companions, carrying light objects through snow-covered landscapes. Most Alaskan Malamutes, however, are brought up as pets.

Such is the life of Tydus. Based in South Africa with his human buddies and pet companions (a parrot and a kitten), Tydus most likely will never see a sled in his life. But with almost 150k followers on Instagram, this Instagram celebrity doesn’t complain.

“We came across the breed and were intrigued by their personality and the fact that they are not as hyper as Huskies,” his owners shared in an interview with helloBARK!. “Not to mention their amazing look and stature! We undertook some research and had our mind set on getting a Malamute.”

His stature is indeed impressive (take in mind that Alaskan Malamutes can reach 100 pounds). But what makes his Instagram page stand out is the fact he’s being brought up alongside his buddies, Trez—an 11-year-old Congo African grey—and Bane, a one-year-old rescue kitty.

“Trez is much more vocal,” admit the South African pet owners. “He is our African grey parrot and has a motor mouth! He warms up his voice box every morning at 6am.”

“Their personalities are completely different! Monroe is calm and quiet while Tonka is impatient and argumentative. They are both more like people than dogs. I believe it’s because I treat them like people and I expect more from them and they never let me down. They are both extremely intelligent,” Bonnie said in this interview.

“We didn’t see it coming at all. Ramsey’s owner gave us an insight into her personality, so we can get to know more about the Cavapoochon hybrid. According to them, as a mixed-breed dog, Ramsey is the perfect combination of the best characteristics across the three dog breeds.

“Just like a typical poodle, Ramsey is SO smart, sometimes too smart for her own good. She is very trainable and learns tricks incredibly fast. She is also extremely loving and friendly like Cavaliers and Bichons. She instantly loves everyone she meets and wants to be friends with everyone,” the owners told in an interview with Hello Bark.

Would you smile if you saw this guy bombing down the beach in his wheelchair? I might be biased but he sure makes me smile! Finn absolutely LOVES the beach!! Prior to his accident, when he was still capable of hiking and backpacking in the mountains, he still would choose the beach over that any day! Now, the beach is a great place for him to easily bomb around in his chair so we have been spending a lot of time there for him. While we love camping in the van, sometimes it is nice to have a dog-friendly place to call home for a few days at the beach! For us, we always turn to @vacasa – with 3,000+ dog-friendly vacation rentals there is never a shortage of places to choose from – whether you want beach, mountains, lakes or cities – they have something for the whole crowd! “It’s amazing to see what they can go through and bounce back from,” his mom told The Dodo. “Finn’s attitude is just all or nothing. We’re truly blessed to be among their company. He’s never given up and it’s just incredible to know that he never wanted us to give up on him. He’s the most important thing in my life.”

Currently, Finn goes to physical therapy and fortunately, after hours and hours of walking on an underwater treadmill, he started building strength in his disabled legs.

Finn recently watched both “Don’t F**ck With Cats” and “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez,” and he is disgusted with humanity. For real. He looked right at me and said “I am glad I am a dog. You humans are messed up.” Seriously though. What is going on in the world today? Who has seen these? What are your thoughts? To say I was disturbed after Dont F**k With Cats is an understatement and as infuriated as I was the entire time, I couldn’t stop watching. In fact I struggled to sleep after seeing it. Finn loves to sleep in tents! I think he misses the backpacking trips where he would crawl into the tent and curl up on my sleeping bag after a long day of hiking. He would wait anxiously for us to set up the tent and be the first one in when the door was unzipped. After a nap he’d be ready to play and check out the campsite! Recently, just for fun we set up the tent just to let him go in and hangout for a while. It definitely isn’t the same as his days of backpacking but he seems to enjoy it. Just like old times – when he saw us getting it set up he wheeled himself to the door to be let in! Do you ever have that stomach dropping, near-tears feeling where you realize how much you’re going to miss a moment even when you are still living it? This was one of them. Pre-nostalgic. To be honest I have been having a lot of those with Finn lately because I am so terrified of losing him. So tonight, and maybe every night this week, I am going to set the tent up in the yard just so he can enjoy a brief “camping” trip! Geez, maybe we will even sleep out there. Finn is living proof that no matter how hard you try, you can’t always protect breakable things. Bones. Hearts. Spirits. Sometimes things break and they can’t get put back together the way they were before, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be wonderfully different. The past few weeks we noticed a shift in Finn. He seemed to be restless, unmotivated and bored. He seemed discouraged and we were discouraged for him. This is why we chose to risk his dependance on a wheelchair. Why we chose to give him that freedom over waiting to see if he progresses with mobility on his own. We are already so happy with the choice! It has been amazing to see his response to his new wheels! While there certainly are many words to describe him now – broken, limited, immobile, disabled… alive is truly the only one that matters to us! Swim, treat, walk, ride, hungry, beach, lets go, sniff, camping and squirrel…. those are the words that matter to Finn! He lights up when he hears them and we are going to make sure he hears them loud, clear and in abunance! Finn is amazing, kind, alive, resilient, immobile, wise, old, happy, awesome and a little bit broken. Like all of us, he is a story made of so many wonderful and sad words that mean nothing and everything all at the same time! MORE FINN, PLEASE! I have been getting a lot of requests for more posts about Finn along with a lot of questions. For those of you who know his story, I apologize for the recap, but I decided it would be easier to address some of them here! + What happened to Finn? In January Finn suffered spinal trauma from a terrible leap he took off of our camper van bed. Since then he has had physical therapy weekly in the form of swimming, underwater treadmill, cold laser therapy and electro-acupuncture. While he does have very limited mobility in his hind legs and we still hope that will progress more over time, we decided that at his age (14) we would risk wheelchair dependence so that he could enjoy some freedom. + Where did you get his wheelchair? We worked with his physical therapist @healingartsvet to get fitted for an Eddies Wheel’s wheelchair. We had it custom made with “off road” durability so he could bomb around the beach, cruise hiking trails and do all the things he loved doing prior to his accident. + Will Finn walk again on his own? Finn can take a few steps at a time – some days are better than others. We are not sure if he will ever do much more than that, but he still full of life, loves playing with toys and doesn’t at all feel sorry for himself about his current circumstances. He is still his same goofball self (this photo about sums that up as he takes a break mid-walk to have a big yawn). In fact, watching how resilient he has been through all of this has been humbling to me. He truly is FINNspirational! + Can Finn lay down in his chair? No, the chair is made solely for adventuring and getting exercise. He can, however, go to the bathroom with it on. + How much did Finn’s wheelchair cost? Finn’s wheelchair was just about $600 for the chair alone and $150 for the fitting and measurements. I do suggest if you are looking into a wheelchair for your dog that you have it fitted and measured properly to ensure it is comfortable and built to your dogs needs! ]]> Nuts, a Mini Brussels Griffon named lives in Moscow, Russia with his human Tatiana Kovalenok. Nuts has recently become popular on Instagram due to his magnificent beard that’s a bit too big for this small pup, but it makes him look incredibly adorable.

The breed is known for having cute beards, but Nuts simply looks extra fabulous with it. On his Insta page, you can see numerous photos of him in different poses and we guarantee you will fall in love with him within a minute or two.
