This Playful Artist Will Make You Fall in Love with Typography

Lauren Hom is an amazing letterer (yeah, that’s a thing), whose love for typography shines throughout all her work. Putting her lettering on cards, murals, and posters, her creations are colorful and bold.

“I find that I’m happiest when creating; so, when I’m not working, you can find me—HAHA just kidding when am I not kind of working on something?” she writes on her website, playfully.

Her playfulness is, perhaps, the key to her success, with clients like Starbucks, Google, AT&T, YouTube, TIME Magazine, and Microsoft, amongst others.

But not all letters are equal to this keen letterer. “My least favorite letter to draw is probably K,” she admitted in an interview with Dumb Questions. “I’ve been lettering for four years and they still bamboozle me all the time. I don’t know if I have disdain for any other letter form in that same way. K’s can suck it.”

🍳The HOM family Recipe for Success👇🏽 . A handful of ideas, roughly chopped 1 cup intuition 1/2 cup confidence (homemade is best but store bought is fine) 3 cups of DOING THE DAMN THING 1/2 cup support from friends 1/2 cup knowing when to rest 2 tablespoons of figuring it out as you go 1/2 cup red wine (optional) Salt, pepper, and sass to taste . Combine all ingredients in a large bowl, mixing with your hands until well-combined. Form dough into balls and deep fry until golden brown. Serve with a side of spicy mayo & a big glass of ‘don’t overthink it’. 🍷🍷🍷 .
