As the master is, so is his dog… If we believe the following photographic series, this saying has never been so accurate. These amazing portraits of likeness were created by British photographer Gerrard Gethings, known for his pictures of animals full of character.
The resemblances between a master and his dog are much more numerous than we suspect: first physical (this is explained by a tendency to be attracted by what seems familiar), but also psychological (character traits common and years spent together establishing mutual influence). Gestures, hairstyles and expressions create perfect reflections, in which the creativity and patience of the person in the shot undoubtedly has a central role.
Thanks to his talent and creativity, the photographer delivers killer portraits of masters posing beside their pets. This series of photos surely will make you smile.

18 months ago I was commissioned by @laurencekingpub to produce 50 portraits, illustrating the idea of dogs who look like their owners. The Times are publishing a bunch of them today, and the whole collection has been made into a game, available from the 10th September. Huge thanks to all the instagram people who travelled from all over the country to take part. #doyoulooklikeyourdog @lisapickup
