Dean Davies admits that his environment, upbringing, and the people he grew up around have had a noticeable influence upon his photography. The award-winning fashion and portrait photographer sticks mainly to his homeland in North West England, capturing his family, friends, and the locals of the region.

But his down-to-earth aesthetic has clearly made an impact, with collaborations with clients like adidas, Lazy Oaf, Levi’s, Stella McCartney and Warner Music.

In his recent and most viral series, Davies captures siblings, documenting the special bonds brothers and sisters often share. “Since 2013 I’ve been photographing two of my nieces in a project called Sisters,” recalled the photographer in an interview with i-D Magazine. “While photographing the girls, I realized how powerful sibling relationships are when captured in image. We wanted to further explore the dynamics of this across a diverse cast of siblings of different ages and genders, and from different areas within the North West.”

“When photographing siblings it’s interesting to observe both the similarities and differences in personalities,” he went on to say. “The younger siblings tended to mimic each other in their actions, whereas the older siblings would be noticeably different in their demeanor and how they presented themselves in front of the camera. I photographed the siblings both together and individually to allow their unique personalities to shine through.”
